Chanel - Bleu de Chanel EDP

Chanel - Bleu de Chanel EDP 1

Hi, I got Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum sprayed on me in a shop and liked the smell of it and at the time thought the longevity was quite good. Had some vouchers so went ahead and bought it. Fast forward a few months and I am now of the opinion that the longevity of this on me is rubbish. I can spray quite moderately (possibly "too much") and within hours I can't even smell it on myself. Has anyone else found this with this scent? I am also wondering if it has been too cold when I've been using it and this has reduced the longevity.

If it's cold, indoors can be dry because of heating and that dries out the skin. You may want to try an unscented moisturizer - one that quickly absorbs into the skin. After it has done so, apply the scent. You may find that performance is better in summer. Be aware, though, Bleu is not a beast mode scent.

I don't know what you consider "moderately" but I'd spray something like 10 to 15 times (neck and chest) with Bleu, although I'm a chronic oversprayer. The EdP is a favorite of mine.

Ahh okay, that is a good tip about an unscented moisturiser! Will try that, thank you. I'm planning on leaving it until warmer weather appears and re-assess then! Have just bought Sunrise on the Red Sand Dunes Eau de Parfum and so far much happier with the longevity of that but the smell is different to Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum

Yeah, 10 to 15 times is what I was finding I was doing and it still wasn't really lasting more than 3/4 hours. Not necessarily after something that lasts 10+ hours but definitely wanting something that lasts longer than 3/4 hours even on a close smell of my wrist.

As I say, I will maybe need to wait until warmer weather and hope it lasts longer as the smell is incredible...when it's there!

I agree with @Smirky, usually this phenomenon called perfume eating skin happens when the skin is extremely dry or dehydrated. Also, have you asked somebody else if they can smell your fragrance when you can't? If you tend to overspray, it might also be that you're simply nose blind to your own fragrance. Then the solution is to spray less and/or to spray somewhere further away from your nose (for example wrists, belly button or ankles). My husband has Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum in his collection and on him I can smell it about 6 - 8 hours.

@AJRA43 what @Lempi said. I usually get closer to 6 hours in winter and closer to 8 in warmer weather. I don't know what you guys can get in the UK, but I use the following. Works very well.

Oh yeah, the moisturizer recommendations. I don't know which part of UK you're from but I believe the biggest Tesco's and Sainsbury's selections are quite same everywhere..? At least in Scotland you can get a few great fragrance free lotions for quite a cheap price from those grocery stores, for example Simple Moisturizer and Aveeno Body Lotion. Also CeraVe fragrance free creams seem to be available in Boots, Superdrug and Sainsbury's. Great value for the price and also won't clash with your fragrance as they don't really smell like anything.

Enthusiastic oversprayer here 🤝.

I agree with @Lempi and @Smirky . Ask someone else if they smell something! You can also reapply may be?

Moisturizer: here in Belgium I bought  "Sanex" scent-free and inexpensive. I use it from times to times.

Thanks for that Lempi, not sure if it would be nose blind, but not ruling it out, other fragrances that I wear, like Le Mâle Le Parfum, I can still smell after 6-8 hours. It just seems to be Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum that doesn't last longer than 3/4 hours on me. Moisturiser seems to be a good idea for me to try!

Those timescales would be ideal! What are your temperatures like in winter? I'm in Scotland so temperatures have been down to low single digits/minus in Celsius. Got me thinking that it maybe doesn't work well in colder temperatures but the moisturiser seems to be a good shout!

Perfect, thanks very much. I am in Scotland and I have large Tesco, Asda, Morrisons etc near me! Will have a look out for those, thank you.

Thank you, will try asking someone else if they can still smell it when I can't. Might also be a case that after 3-4 hours I need to reapply a bit!

In late December through mid February, it can easily be -20C for stretches and dip down to -26C for a few days. Indoor humidity can go below 15%. When I said I got 6 hours in winter, that also means that at the tail end of it, Bleu is down to a skin scent. It also doesn't have monster projection, regardless. Also, I see you have Sauvage Eau de Parfum. Bleu is definitely not as strong as Sauvage, in case you were comparing performance between the two.

I am very new to the scene having only really taken a bit more of an interest since December last year, so still lots to learn! Nice to know that you are both from Scotland 😀

Ahh no problem, so temperatures I am experiencing in Scotland are nothing compared to you so temp shouldn't be the main issue here. I'm not too bothered about the projection, probably more bothered by the lack of longevity I seem to be experiencing. I possibly have been comparing to the likes of that, or similar, in that regard. I am very new to the scene so still lots to learn!
