The Beautiful Beast
If you need an entry point to this brand, Al hayvaan may be the start for you. REMEMBER to approach with an open mind, this perfume can transform you. The perfume is an elegant, smooth composition. Its name describes a beast.. but this one is tame, and does not bite. Thee perfume, is one of my favorites, and in my opinion exemplifies the 'DK' DNA very well. It defines quality, elegance, and a true niche olfactory experience.

The perfume emits an aura that is comforting, yet daring. This is the scent of humility, a carriage of treasured spices, fueled by the animalic warmth of 5 natural pheromones. A sweet fuzzy civet providing texture, hyraceum spicing florals with unique edge, a warm grounding leather texture from castor, a creamy musk, and velvety waxy ambergris.. all combined create the spotlight for the rose + oud heart. Elegance is all that exudes from the core, sweet hay notes, resins, amber... nestling a bed of roses, covered in spices.. vanilla, and dusted in cocoa. Not to mention, it's even deeper ambery floral, earthy base? It is a royal barn, in the format of a perfume. You smell 'stable' but it is kept clean, you smell weaves of gold, the warm sun rays at a villa, yet it is a noble creation.. The irony of ingredient to composition, using what most would consider today as repulsive but is an absolutely attractive smell.

How could 'animals' smell so good.? Well besides it's main animalic attraction Al Hayvaan is a royal carriage of olfactive treasures with atypical ingredients, yet evoking the scent of classic chypre styled perfumes. Al Hayvaan makes you miss vintage perfumery, but as long as it's around I think it will suffice in the animalic world.. There is no 'shock' stench, just purely well considered perfumery. Remember, if you want wild and are afraid of getting bitten; Al Hayvaan is your go to animal 4 love creation, just keep note to be considerate with sprays, such high natural content using animal notes can be very dense and might overwhelm you if you are not a regular visitor to the perfume animal kingdom ... :)
I'd love an even more intense version of this, it left me hungry for more !

Become an animal
You had lured me...I followed you, fascinated, without thinking and yet with fear and trembling.
You frighten me... Your strength and power, dark, intense, relentless, you draw me further and further into the depths of darkness, further and further. My attention is strained to the utmost. Will I be able to stand it, will I be able to endure it - and oh, I want it so much... Here in the dark - is it your cave? Is it your lair? - the room expands without me being able to see clearly, but I can feel and smell it... Here I become a little calmer. I sense: in your heart it is wide and soft, deep and secure, wild, impetuous - and calm. Like in the eye of the storm. I am allowed to arrive, even if I still have the feeling that nothing here is harmless.
You let me remember... the hay and soft sheepskin on which I was bedded before my memory set in, the familiar and unfamiliar skin whose scent I absorbed, trembling with exhaustion or desire, the scent of deepest lust and the feeling that I have always - or never - felt it like this, my wounds and deepest pains that I thought I had overcome, all the tears I have cried and those I have never cried...
You let me be an animal... You tell me: If I have looked you and thus myself in the eye, nothing can frighten me anymore, nothing can happen to me anymore. It's never harmless. And it's so beautiful!

"Al Hayvaan/ الحیوان" simply means "The Beast", apparently in several other languages too. In Arabic, it is also used as an insult like "Du Schwein" or "Du Ratte" in German. This fragrance is, of course, a real animal, and what a real animal it is, but I think it also gives the term back its dignity. With this fragrance, I can become an animal myself in the best sense of the word, or - if that's too much for you - at least reflect on the fact that we are all animals too.
Gabriel Kuhn says that it is necessary to "become an animal" in order to get rid of the bad rule of mainstream ideas about what constitutes us as living beings and agents. That we are never neutral, that we cannot always control everything, that we cannot always understand everything that is important, that we are always subject to processes that we cannot control on our own. The world would certainly be a better place if we could accept this instead of always feeling superior to the animals. For me, that is also part of the deep meaning of this fragrance (and animalic notes in general).
-----
Duftkumpels is a great and promising house. They use only natural ingredients in many fragrances. But even where synthetics have been used, they have been incorporated incredibly well (see, for example, in "Fleurs et Phéromones" and the reviews and statements under "Tilleul Friction de Nuit"). Great craftsmanship characterizes all the fragrances I have been able to try so far.
The detailed text in the webshop states that "Al Hayvaan" is "the only fragrance creation worldwide [...] in which all 5 pheromone sources of the local animal world known and known to us worldwide are on the list of ingredients" Here, however, civet, ambergris, gazelle musk, hyraceum and castoreum have not simply been mixed together, but blended with other notes with great skill. The result is not a repulsive or even fecal animalistic mixture, but a fragrance that can be quite demanding, especially at the beginning, but which develops beautifully and harmoniously. Consistently animalistic, clear, but at the same time also expansive, carrying, enveloping, deeply serene. The five animal ingredients are soon joined in the fragrance by the woody and almost spicy notes of Assam oud, which in itself has something animalistic about it. I also notice labdanum, which I always like very much. Cretan labdanum from 2002 was used here, which was extracted in a traditional way that is hardly available anymore: it was combed from the goats' beard and thigh hair after they had run through the cistus bushes. (Today, the resin extracts are usually obtained directly from the plant parts.) I don't perceive patchouli, vanilla, cocoa, cinnamon or rose as individually prominent notes; they only complement the warm and sweetish parts of the animalic notes and repeatedly illuminate individual aspects here and there like rays of sunlight falling through different parts of a stained glass window.
The fragrance is agile and lively, its heart beats! -----

Mordre! - Bite!...!
Come on!
Let's play Little Red Riding Hood again. You know what I am, don't you? Come with me into the undergrowth and into the depths. To where no one can see us anymore. How strong is your heart beating? I can smell the beat. Remarkably fast! Now you are in my world. And you'll probably stay here too! Taste a little bit of me. And you'll become a part of me. Take a bite,...but don't choke! You are numb from what you taste. Numb from what you smell, from all the hides, the skins and the lives and bodies I once ate. Ohhh, it hurts, I know! It stings, it bites, it burns. It is repulsive and so painful. But only briefly, I promise! The deer and gazelles ran here. And so I took their dominion. The cats were not fast enough in the trees. And so I ate their fragrant fear. Castoreum were not fast enough in the pools. And so I took away their leathery kingdom. Even the whales couldn't make it to the deepest depths. And so I licked their ancient fossil saliva. Yes, I had them all,...and yes it was certainly a pleasure! But I also honored them! With the heaviest oils of Bulgarian roses. With the warmest spice of the most precious cinnamon and the oldest resins of holy-smoked labdanum and bitter-spicy vanilla. Not enough, I know! And so they were given a wooden grimace of precious Assam oud. As moist and sultry as my own breath. Draw me back into the earth, as deep and earthy-warm as your skin itself once was! And so taste my flesh in the end and take what has long been yours...pure purity!
Conclusion
I hardly believe that more is possible?
You could compare so many things with Al Hayvaan the "animal". A Muscs Koublaï Khän to which it is more than similar or even an overdriven Ambre Doré. But nothing comes close. Here, all animal essences have been blended to perfection. Slightly floral underpinned by Bulgarian roses and minimally touched by resins of spicy-tart vanilla. Everything is set in sultry, moist Assam oud and glowing, deep, warm Indian cinnamon. Here we have an exit fragrance of the deepest animalism. Every lover of the genre has reached their goal here. Let's see who is Little Red Riding Hood and who is the wolf? I've already made up my mind! I'm curious...!'

"They said you were different,.... that was probably the biggest compliment...!"
