A Shadow Without Softness
Obscuratio, it’s ylang, but not the sunny, enveloping kind. Here, the flower becomes harsh, almost biting, with a sharp greenness that grips the throat. A raw intensity, almost aggressive, far from the caressing exoticism one might expect. Maybe the patchouli has something to do with it.
Vanilla tries to make an appearance, but it stays in the background, far too shy next to this dominating ylang. No roundness, no comfort, just a lingering tension, a shadow without softness.
A fragrance that doesn’t leave you indifferent, but, for me, it’s sorely lacking in balance.
