Bright fits
My son is a declared fan of vanilla scents. I brought back two samples from Sens Unique in Paris for him, namely a "light" and a "dark" vanilla variant. This one was presented to me as the light one.
I believe all the notes listed for the top. The aromas are already gently underpinned by fluffy vanilla. The coconut fortunately has more to do with coconut water than with Bounty. The flowers are so fragrant and light that the vanilla is allowed to float.
I believe all the notes listed for the heart. Gradually, the vanilla gains volume, but not weight. It billows up airy and softly. It remains delicate. The floral notes, with the orange blossom still leading the way, are a partner at nose level.
I believe all the notes listed for the base. Zero point zero sticky, the scent reaches the olfactory finish line during the early morning. I smell a bit of something waxy, later something dusty helps with the ventilation - possibly a kind of amber along with a contribution from patchouli, both gradually swelling. Unfortunately, the persistently present orange blossom, in conjunction with the creamy ingredients, sometimes gives off an impression of cleaning milk or laundry detergent around midday. The vanilla has certain difficulties getting through in the later part, which actually starts to fade from early afternoon, and patchouli practically stands alone at the end. But that is still better than Pamps.
Just to clarify: that I believe all the notes does not imply their completeness or dominance or absolute clarity; I hope that was also hinted at in the text. Nevertheless, the scent clearly relies on straightforwardness.
Conclusion: "Vanilla" is a non-artificial creation that indeed maintains its bright and airy character from start to finish, including the consistently perceptible orange blossom prickling as metaphorical salt in the soup.
This could appeal to fans of floral vanilla. Provided a test is successful. The little stuff is quite hard to obtain, and the price of 114 euros per 100ml does not exactly encourage blind buying. Rightly so, because "Vanilla" is simply not special enough for that.
P.S.: Bright fits. As a dark variant, I was filled with "Gourmand" from Bottega Profumiera. Coming soon to this theater.
