I must have received water in my sample sprayette
I ordered the "Originals for Him" and "Island Essences for Him" fragrance samples (3 perfumes each) and tried Classica first. It was a total disappointment. I couldn't smell any opening citrus nor the middle notes. Only got a very subtle woody scent in the dry down. Don't know what the problem was. Granted, I might be nose blind for some reason (although I've never been nose blind to opening citrus notes before). In any event, the fact that I could hardly smell Classica, after applying the entire sample means it's a total fail for me. I want to enjoy any fragrances I apply; I'm not wearing it primarily for others to smell. I'm keeping an open mind and have five more to test.

BTW, the spritzer is the worst I've ever had from any sample.

Little Gem from a Small Island
The fragrance was a lucky find on eBay. After I couldn't find any discouraging comments here and the price was really good, I bought it blind. The brand hadn't meant anything to me until then. I had no great expectations and was therefore enchanted when I tested it for the first time.
The opening is beautifully fresh and fruity with the lemon and mandarin. The mandarin adds a good portion of sweetness to the freshness. The wheel isn't being reinvented here, but it all comes across very naturally. I find the rosemary gets a bit lost. However, relatively quickly a slightly salty note comes in, most likely from the algae. Sweet/salty, doesn't sound delicious, but it is here and really well done. As it develops, it remains relatively consistent in my nose, which is a good thing. I couldn't perceive any of the listed base notes.
The best time to wear this fragrance is, of course, when the thermometer shows 25 degrees and above.
I find the sillage and longevity surprisingly good for a fresh scent. I had the scent trail often and strongly in my nose outdoors for at least 2 to 3 hours. Even after that, it wasn't immediately close to the skin. That's why I gave it an 8 in longevity/sillage. One must consider that it is a fresh scent and can't be judged by the same standards as a winter perfume. And since it was still sealed and can now mature a bit more, I'm curious to see if it can even improve in those points next year.
In conclusion, I can warmly recommend this little treasure and with the knowledge I have now, I would even have paid the full retail price. Unfortunately, summer is almost over now, but next year I will gladly wear it often. Grab it if you see it on sale somewhere.

Cool Water (almost) without Water
Cool Water (almost) without Water

The homepage of the German sales outlet for "Aqua dell' Elba" begins with a quote from Karl Lagerfeld: "A fragrance must evoke the best moments of life."

1.
We learn further about the objectives of this traditional family business:

"Acqua dell' Elba - the scent of an island: A (...) fragrance made from pure natural products and crafted with love for craftsmanship. Our perfumes awaken memories of beautiful holiday days in harmony with nature and the sea, with the enchanting scent of an island in the Mediterranean. Each fragrance note is the product of a creative journey and is produced in our small laboratory in Marciano Marina, Elba. As a family business, we value tradition and use only products that are available on Elba."

Our test candidate today, "Classica Uomo," represents the base fragrance in the men's fragrance line of "Aqua dell' Elba." "Classica Uomo" is complemented by "Blu Uomo" and "Arcipelago Uomo." Since this series is concerned with the island group around the island of Elba in the Mediterranean, "Arcipelago Uomo" represents the islands with its spicy fragrance notes, while "Blu Uomo" (as the name suggests) stands for the freshness of the azure Mediterranean with its fruity-aquatic tones. But in which direction does the classic from "Aqua dell'Elba" go? What does it stand for?

2.
"Classica Uomo" begins fruity: mandarin and lemon. Not sourly fresh, but rather ripe fruits. Natural and clear. A gentle breeze wafts over from a summer citrus fruit plantation. Although the fragrance pyramid does not list orange, I am somewhat reminded of Aqua di Parma's "Arancia di Capri." Or perhaps the mandarin (top) note in the recently released "Aqva Amara" by "Bvlgari." However, the fruit in "Classica Uomo" feels more summery and natural.

But very soon, "Classica Uomo" from "Aqua dell' Elba" takes a completely different path: It becomes spicier: rosemary joins in. But just a hint. Just enough for these fruity notes to become more complex and thus more interesting. So we find ourselves on land: (Ripe) citrus fruits with a hint of rosemary. But what is that? Yes! There it is: A lightly aquatic breeze wafts over from the nearby Mediterranean. Slightly salty seaweed. Very restrained. Very subtle. Yet we keep our feet firmly on the ground. We breathe in and see in our mind's eye the rolling waves in the Mediterranean sunlight. Joyful sunbeams dancing on them on a warm summer day.

Yet we are still on the island. Despite the Mediterranean summer warmth, we do not dive into the inviting water. Rather, these naturally ripe citrus fruits, which are infused with a spicy-aquatic touch, accompany us throughout a warm holiday day. Pleasant. Summery. Almost like a short vacation.

The evening of our holiday day sets in. The warm Mediterranean sun sets. We are still sitting on the coast, letting ourselves be pampered by the aromas of this unique island. The ground beneath our feet is slowly but surely cooling down; however, it remains warm and pleasant. We lower our heads towards this warming ground: A pleasantly calming scent of warmed moss greets us. Not the damp moss of the forest floor in a dense and mysterious forest after a heavy rain. No! Our moss here is pampered by the Mediterranean sun. Dry, earthy, grassy. And thus our wonderfully sunny holiday day comes to a close.

My conclusion:
With "Classica Uomo," we remain on land. Yet we still enjoy the gentle breeze of the nearby Mediterranean that wafts over to us. "Classica Uomo" thus stands in the middle between the olfactory sea image "Blu Uomo" and the island scent "Arcipelago Uomo" of the Italian fragrance manufacturer "Aqua dell' Elba." It equally forms the basis. A "Cool Water" (almost) without "Water." Just "Cool." Like the memory of a beautiful holiday day in summer Italy.

Nice aquatic aromatic, natural citrus open, aromatics, coastal feel, dries to a nice light kelpy musk. Glad I sold my D&G Light Blue EI and got this!

If you close your eyes you can smell all the scents of a Mediterranean isle.
Fresh, aromatic and unisex. Maybe not too longlasting

For me, a tolerable aquatic in the Cologne style. Citrus fruits, a hint of herbs, moderate aquatic notes, and clean musk.

With some Italian brands, you need a heart for plastic: aquatic, citrusy, with rosemary cologne, creamy musk.

Light maritime scent with typical elements of sea air, a hint of seaweed & light Mediterranean driftwood on a musk base. Uncomplicated.

Absolutely underrated, this fresh, aquatic scent. More on the masculine side, but I enjoy wearing it too. Great sillage and a compliment magnet.

Finally, a sea breeze scent without algae and stuff that always puts me off such fragrances. Fresh wind from the sea.

An interesting alternative to Acqua di Gio. A bit fresher and in my opinion, a slightly better performance.
