The new man - unknown and unfinished, but with potential
I heard and saw something of the Acqua di Firenze brand for the first and last time at the Perfumery Conference in Düsseldorf a few years ago. There they tried to introduce the new Italian label, which apparently wasn't necessarily crowned with success despite the sophisticated flacons.
In my opinion, what is not necessarily conducive to a brand launch is the simple lack of sample material. There were only a few samples filled in small plastic bags, which are quite unsuitable to get a really comprehensive olfactory impression of a fragrance. The disadvantages such as manageable shelf life and single use outweigh the classic glass or plastic vials - ideally with a nebulizer.
In my bag, after a good 1 ½ years, there were only a few drops of the eau de toilette to get out, despite good storage. Nothing was tilted, but one wonders how the scent would have been if I had opened and tested it shortly after the handover. Anyway - there is nothing to change in this circumstance.
And Homo Novus is definitely a fragrance that knows how to please. Well, let's move the rather complex pyramid listed here quickly to the side. An interesting marketing instrument, but if the marketing department of Acqua di Firenze does not manage to create clever samples ... but we've already had that topic.
What remains is a good splash of sandalwood, guaiac wood, a mini splash of oud, a little patchouli, some cuddly amber and a good shed of musk. One could think that the top note or also the heart note would have somehow fallen by the wayside in the course of the not so long time.
Since the only two owners/users of Homo Novus have unfortunately not taken the trouble to deposit rudimentary fragrance impressions on Parfumo, the whole thing is a bit like fishing in the dark. Would have been more revealing otherwise. So I find this eau de toilette to be predominantly woody with a fine, ripe, smoky note that reaches marginally into the sweet and doesn't make the creation look too dry or dusty. I like it very much, but can that really be all?
I drizzled a few more drops on kitchen paper (by the way, an excellent scent carrier and better than the usual paper strips in perfumeries - just not quite as sexy), whereby some nuances of fresher and green to delicate floral notes still reveal themselves. This must be a highly interesting fragrance, even if I unfortunately only get fragments and can guess the rest.
You should have the brand on your radar in any case. I think the other creations are no less interesting, just somehow unknown.
