The problem: authenticity
During my time as a perfume enthusiast, I have of course come across leather fragrances again and again. I confess to be no friend of leather fragrances and so far no leather fragrance - and I'm talking about perfumes in which leather plays the main role - could convince me to buy. Too animalistic, sour, intrusive or fruity I felt the most.
Driven by the feeling that even a modest perfume collection without leather fragrance was not complete, I continued to search for a candidate.
In the process, then also led no way past AdP CL:
AdP Colonia Leather is an absolute masterpiece. One feels at the first spray already with what passion this perfume was made. It has such an excellent quality and creates for me an extremely authentic image of leather. And that's the problem.
In the meantime, my taste, as far as perfumes are concerned, has been largely consolidated. I like fougere, spicy and especially woody scents. If I wear a perfume, I try to select it according to the occasion. It should also match the wardrobe you are wearing. Leather, in most cases, does not match the occasion or the clothes I prefer to wear. Although I own two leather jackets and a leather shoulder bag, but the jackets are now rarely used and the bag is only in the office in the corner. So how does a leather scent fit into my life? AdP CL feels to me like carrying a piece of leather clothing. It smells so authentically like leather that you are bound to be on the lookout for a corresponding garment. Perhaps if I worked in a store that specialized in leather clothing, this fragrance would be an ideal complementary good. What I mean to say is: I can not imagine an occasion to which I can wear this beautiful fragrance, if I do not also want to start wearing leather pants regularly.
It's such a shame, because the quality and authenticity of this fragrance are outstanding. Craftsmanship masterpiece. For me also the best and only leather fragrance to date, which I appreciate and would ever buy. Also in terms of progression, durability and sillage CL is more than an excellent representative of the leather faction. What other leather perfumes do wrong, CL does right. And yet, I can't buy it.
How do I rate a fragrance that I think is excellent in terms of craftsmanship and quality, but doesn't reconcile well with my lifestyle? Since no wearability category exists, I have to include this very important factor in my evaluation to the fragrance and make deductions.
The brown collection of AdP is now no longer available. Residual items but partly to acquire. I fear that one day I will regret not having bought this fragrance.
