Adriatic sea and orange rubber boat
Who had luck to rise on Yugoslavia and have been in Adriatic sea knows at first this smell. It is combination of salty sea water, sun lotions from that time and orange rubber boats. Silly is in't?

And yes, it have a little bit similarity with older expensive brother Sail, but like always with comparison with niche expensive smells it is overrated statement.
Sillage and longevity on my skin is more then good, and you should be careful to not over spray because it can drown you. It have also that old vibe of 80's and I think that can be spring/summer winner for most scent lovers from that period.

In my collection this is a smell which I had most compliments, but that is mostly because in my surrounding are most of people who had smelled something like that on sea. Do not think this is a scent for young generation more for perfume lovers who love to explore something different (and this is that in aquatic group).

Like all the scent which take that special spot in my brain about memories, it is must have scent...

Wet salty linen
“Sail” and “Portofino”, what would you think of? Yes, that. A floral-anisic aquatic scent. Surprisingly nice, though; kind of plastic but with an enjoyable translucent texture which brilliantly manages to tame down the usually annoying heaviness of calone and similar notes. Cozy and classy like high quality linen. Basically Sail is a salty-anisic ozonic scent with a subtle pastel tone of flowers and a whiff of herbs, and an odd echo of nutty coconut (I don’t think that is intended). Light and discreet but with a nice darker shade underneath the “bright floral saltiness”. Somehow not that fresh, actually rather lukewarm and kind of aloof. Quite more refined than most of other aquatic scents, more “civilized”, and more masculine too. Basically while most of others smell “natural” and evoke sand, salty water, wet skin under the sun and whatever other depressing clichés this genre is based on, this is actually more the white shirt Alec Baldwin’s wearing while sipping a scotch on the seaside. Pretty linear though, hence boring soon. Nonetheless it is overall fairly nice for me: less predictable and less mainstream than it may seem, it could easily fit many avantgarde niche lines (that wouldn’t really be a compliment for me usually, but it is now).

Dr. N. Ase in the OR, Dr. N. Ase please
My nose is a capricious lover. First, it smells a fragrance and lets me know "this is good, you can buy it," and the next day it picks up something in its surroundings that ruins any further contact with the perfume.

This time it was Sail by Acqua di Portofino. Well, I must mention that it didn't knock me off my feet during the first test either, but I was looking for a dirty aquatic scent. Rough sea in a bottle, so to speak, because there are also those for boats. And what you se(a) is what you get.
Compared to others in the aquatic category, this one is, in my opinion, more synthetic and less long-lasting, but also one of the more affordable representatives.
Now, onto the second test. Summer was coming to an end, and I wanted to seize the moment to finally find my scent. I should preface this by saying that I had been at the dentist the morning before, as I had been dealing with an inflammation for weeks. Sail was supposed to make me forget that. Supposed to.

You think so.

I sprayed it on, and suddenly I find myself back at the dentist's office.
The opening is now immediately linked to a doctor's practice for me; something in it seems to create these parallels that had previously escaped me. I suspect it's the eucalyptus. At least that's what I smell. Koala food in formaldehyde. It's not so bad that I need to be referred to an ENT specialist right away, but there are certainly more pleasant interpretations. This note lingers for one or two hours until it makes the transition to something that actually smells quite nice. Then I smell exclusively herbal, salty seawater. Unfortunately, it's so close to the skin that it's not worth the dentist visit.
I consciously do not make any recommendations here, as everyone should have their own experiences, but if there are any dentists among us who have always wanted to merge with their practice, at least for a few hours, then this is your scent!

Sharp, salty, herbaceous marine scent rounded with floral undertones. Refreshing and quite original.

Beautifully crafted, intimate "all-day" scent.
Associations of sunscreen, slightly seaweed-like saltwater, and subtle thyme.
Pleasantly understated.

The sailboat is in front of the Swedish archipelago. The sun is shining, the water is cool! No special scent. Still good!

More of a sting in the nose than a splash in the sea ... the aquatic notes come across as more synthetic and prickly than desired.

None of those standard aquatics with the typical sharp note, instead white flowers, sunscreen, saltwater, and a hint of seaweed!

aquatic, salty, summery, feels very masculine to me, but not an extraordinary scent, still works all the time, especially in summer
