Spring Breeze by the Mediterranean
This scent was an addition to the purchase of a new bottle. Once again, one that is supposed to smell fruity-floral, I thought to myself. Boring! Isn't there enough of these trivial, often annoying fruity-florals by now? Well, Borgo quickly showed me that it is damn different and does not deserve this classification at all.
It starts off with hesperidic notes, but the flowers don't take long to appear. We have a dominant jasmine note, and ylang-ylang is not hiding either. In combination with the citrus notes and the cherry, which to me smells much more like a cherry blossom, it reminds me of a warm spring breeze by the Mediterranean. Borgo is a floral scent as it should be, yet so tender and so elegant that it could almost be a classic, perhaps from Guerlain or Chanel. Nevertheless, this scent is kept modern and feels wonderfully timeless. You can wear it at 20 just as well as at 80, and it is simply delicate, feminine, soft, and beautiful.
The flowers, especially the jasmine note, linger into the woody-amber base. Patchouli is almost hiding here. I can hardly make it out. The dry down feels wonderfully authentically Italian and so natural.
Interestingly, I kept thinking about my mother while experiencing Borgo. Did she have a scent like this? I don't consciously remember anymore, but it could be that this fragrance reminds me of one of her numerous bath additives or creams she used when I was a child. It could very well be a few years old, given how it is designed.
It is a caressing, elegant Italian. A bit of vacation by the Mediterranean in a spray. Yet always light-hearted and casual, and definitely not stuffy. Those who enjoy scents like Chanel's Paris-Riviera or Guerlain's Champs-Elysees might also find pleasure in this one.
