A Bargain Sandalwood Fragrance

On paper this smells just like, and only like, sandalwood to me. But on skin is when the transformation begins. It becomes resinous, spicy, a little floral, a little sweet, with a lovely creamy woodiness. Though I'm sure there is not a smidgen of real sandalwood here, I am very impressed with how natural they've managed to imitate that note. It's really just perfect.
Despite that, I still find the overall composition a little too low key and not as complex as something like vintage Samsara, which I prefer and is my standard to judge other sandalwood fragrances by. To be fair, I really haven't tried all that many sandalwood fragrances to be the best judge of that, but I do know what I like, and I love all the many facets of Samsara that is lacking here. While this is simple in comparison, I still like it, and think it will make a nice “I don't know what to wear today” dumb reach, (Oy, I have way too many of them already), as it is safe and sure not to offend anyone. It's also totally unisex and would work great as a layering fragrance too.
Though this perfume is very cheap, it doesn't smell cheap, and I was amazed with the packaging. It's very well done. The lid of the bottle is shaped like a microphone, which is a really cute touch and very fitting for a singer's fragrance. I've purchased much more expensive perfumes, some actually niche, that weren't nearly half as well thought out (and smelled plenty of niche perfumes that didn't smell nearly half as nice either). So, you are certainly getting a bang for your buck with this one.
Overall, while I'm glad to have tried this fragrance, if I had to do it over, I would take a pass on buying a bottle as I don't think I'll be using this much in the future. But since a small bottle only put me out for little more than the price of a sample, I'm not complaining.
