Not What I Expected
It's very strange that they named this Jasmin Lilas as it is neither. It is a Lily of the Valley scent. It has both notes in the name showing up early in the wear, but they quickly depart, and this turns into a Lily of the Valley soliflore on the dry down. Despite my initial disappointment I still like this as it is a beautiful perfume. I just wasn't looking for another LOTV scent.
I must say that the LOTV is the most natural I've ever smelled. There is no LOTV scent that I have smelled to date that captures that exact scent, but this does. Soft, creamy, and sweet and not excessively green. Smells exactly the same as the bouquets I bring into my house when they are in bloom. It is really pretty. I shouldn't be surprised by how good this smells considering it is a Pierre Bourdon creation. That is what tempted me to buy this in the first place. I just should have done my homework before I did and not been swayed by the name alone.
Oh well, it looks like I now have another LOTV scent to wear. Thank goodness I really like this a lot.

Very realistic lilac
This has a very fresh green lilac opening, the best I've tried. It stays green until the sweeter jasmine heart, and dries down to a clean/musky, slightly powdery base. I 've had this fragrance on my want list for a long time, and I am very happy to say it didn't disappoint!

Difficult Synthetic LOTV Opening
As much as I want to like Jean-Charles Brosseau JASMIN-LILAS, I find the opening very difficult to endure. The lily-of-the-valley rendition used here is unfortunately the same as or similar to the one featured in Coty's ghastly reformulated MUGUET DES BOIS, which to me smells like paint thinner. Here, the lily of the valley note is tempered quite a bit in the drydown by the strong jasmine note, but there is always the lingering memory of paint thinner-cum-lighter fluid which I find somewhat problematic and even annoying. The opening couple of minutes are really hard to bear, and I find myself basically holding my breath to survive. However, the fragrance never delivers enough niceness to warrant the wait, it seems to me.

Perhaps this composition would work better in hot weather, applied outside, so that the solvent-y aspect could evaporate quickly away, giving a swifter development to the drydown and diminishing the waiting period for a decent perfume to emerge. I'll try again when summer arrives. The jasmine is very nice, but all things considered, I'd rather wear a strong jasmine fragrance without this particular lily-of-the-valley note, which to me is not pleasant at all. I love the bottle and even the green color, and knowing that Pierre Bourdon created this perfume, I really wanted to love it too. But I don't.

Spring lets its blue ribbon…..
Thanks to a dear parfumista, spring has recently moved in with me. Actually, Jasmin Lilas doesn't fit my fragrance profile at all, but in this weather, I am just longing for this huge bouquet of lilacs that stands in an oversized, bulbous, white porcelain vase on the wooden table in the middle of the room.

The delicate curtains sway in the warm, airy spring breeze that occasionally wafts through the open window. Again and again, I want to bury my nose in the lilac-scented pearl blossoms and take a deep breath. The whole room is filled with their fragrance, a sunbeam falls on my face as I write this comment, and a feeling of happiness from my childhood creeps up my back and tingles at the nape of my neck…..

Ah, now I have awakened from my daydream. I sit on the sofa with a thick, red-checkered scarf around my neck, cold feet, and a dripping nose from my cold, with the laptop on my lap, trying to coax some beautiful words from my fingers…

Jasmin Lilas is a fragrance that I will probably never wear, but it has a natural-fresh quality and, as you can read above, evokes associations.

In the top note, pineapple and melon are supposed to set the stage??? Far from it, they have long been overrun by lilac and lily of the valley. The two give no chance to any other components (not even the jasmine from the name), pulling through to the base. In the end, a hint of musk remains on the skin.

I don't ask for more. I just want to remember the lilac scent from my childhood, and this fragrance captures that beautifully….
And I await spring….

when the white lilac blooms again...
I have a mini sitting in my closet, completely untested, what a sin!
I'll comment without looking at the listed fragrance notes.

So, I smell lilac, lilac, lilac.....
Lily of the valley, violets, a lot of jasmine, a rose petal, and 2 freesias
and?
you can guess:

LILAC

wonderful velvety, powdery lilac scent with the natural sweetness of the flowers, strong "yay!", yet not overpowering.

This will be my spring fragrance 2011

Beautiful white blood scent with dominant lilac! Fresh and zesty, like in the garden early in the morning… I'm pleasantly surprised.

White floral scent with a lot of lilac that stands out. You feel like it's spring when the bushes and lily of the valley bloom in the park.

Green! Very green scent! Lots of flower stems. Lilac, lily of the valley among the stems.
I love green fragrances, but this one is quite overwhelming.
