The completely DIFFERENT Rose
To get straight to the point: Noche de Rosas (= Night of Roses) is a typically Spanish fragrance. This means that Spaniards, especially in the southern part of the country, prefer fresh, light, floral scents that are still long-lasting. Sweet and cloying fragrances are not to their taste. Many don’t even use perfume - not only for financial reasons - especially in smaller towns. There, the so-called splashes (known as Colonias in Spain) are more popular, available in many fragrance directions from citrusy to floral and green to woody, thus catering to every taste, in large bottles of 500 ml or 1 L. They smell light, fresh, and clean, and this lasts for a long time.
Noche de Rosas has such qualities, but it is also long-lasting for several hours. Admittedly, for an EdT, the longevity could be a bit better, but I enjoy reapplying it to continually experience this beautiful scent.
It is a rose fragrance, no doubt about it, yet the other flowers and fruits also come into play, giving the rose a lovely floral-fruity, gentle accompaniment without taking away its presence. The rose itself is bright, more of a salmon pink or apricot. Its scent is delicate and refreshing, with the aquatic note of a fresh forest spring.
If you sit in the garden of the Generalife - the summer palace of the Alhambra in Granada - next to blooming roses, you will perceive such a fragrance: the air is filled with the scent of roses and the many other flowers in the garden and from the water that flows everywhere and collects in fountains, creating sprays that send tiny droplets of water into the air which not only reflect the sun but also carry the scent with them.
Noche de Rosas has very little in common with the fragrances from Les Parfums de Rosine; there, the rose dominates, while here it plays in a ring dance with the other flowers. The base components of amber, musk, and cedar also participate, without overshadowing the lightness of the floral interplay. It’s as if these three keep throwing the flowers into the air again and again to fill the air with their scent over and over.
This rose fragrance is also appealing for those who like floral scents but usually steer clear of rose fragrances. Noche de Rosas is absolutely suitable for everyday wear, for any occasion and event, even as a scent for a bride.
Moreover, the price for this fragrance is significantly lower than that of LPR or Annick Goutal, among others. I haven’t seen it in shops in Germany yet, but it is available online at any time.
