Lemon Drops On A Cedarwood Tray
Sometimes it surprises me that I wrote a statement so long ago, and I am still waiting for something today. And yet, this creation by AD, thanks this time to perfumer nose Jean Jacques—from his LinkedIn profile, these creations for Adolfo Dominguez: Bambu for men, for women (with Françoise Caron), Agua de Bambu, Agua Fresca Citrus Cedro—is a beautiful fragrance, which I definitely should include more often in my summer rotation. As with all the other Agua Fresca flankers, the flask is akin to those for holding salt and pepper, especially for the most miniature 60ml format I own. The juice is all about citrus, spicy, and woody accord, as sharp as a pencil shaver. There are both warm and cool spices in the recipe for this essence.
As soon as I spray it, a cloud of boozy and lemony accords surrounds me as if to recall a long drink made with alcohol and lemon pulp, the yellow Italian ones from the south. Disruptive? Not really, but still sparkling and pleasant. I join other people who find a resemblance to Dior Homme Cologne (2013) and "Vibrant Leather Cologne | Zara," all beautiful, fresh, and citrusy. The similarity is evident, but each has its distinctive sign. Dior paved the way, and the other fragrances retraced it. The presence of mint is contained and goes well with the notes of verbena, which has a lemony nuance but is lighter than the fragrance of pure lemon and has sweet, fruity undertones. On warm skin, the herbaceous notes of verbena and mint are amplified with a citric undertone; instead, the paper strip amplifies the fruits and citrus peel and is often the aroma of pomelo mixed with bergamot. I want to point out that the fragrance uses pomelo, which differs from grapefruit and does not have the sulfurous facets we find in the latter. The opening is attractive and brilliant, with herbs and peels that awaken the dormant senses. During the initial phase, the sour notes of citrus fruits are influenced by aromatic herbs. At the same time, in the Zara version, the smell of the peel and its spongy part raises a small detail that, in any case, separates the two essences.
Being Agua Fresca Citrus Cedro, a predominantly fresh fragrance, the citrus top notes last a long time and continue in the heart, moving into the background. I begin to feel the savory edges of the ginger root, seasoned with a spicy accord of cumin, not too sweaty at all, but occasionally filthy, and sweet pink pepper. The result gives the heart a touch of sophistication. Meanwhile, the resinous and dry nuances of the cedar chips slowly rise from the base. As time progresses, the perfume remains very close to the skin, with a slightly woody floral touch.
In the dry-down, the woody accords stand out well together with the somewhat animalistic ones of white musk. There may be a fragile veil of saltiness, thanks to the presence of amber, but don't expect amber or sweetish notes. All the time, the sour note of citrus remains, which mixes with the heart's spices and the base's woods. This potion isn't a super ambroxan or iso-E Super bomb.
The result is an essence that smells natural, unabashedly citrus aroma, exuberantly fresh, cheerful, and invigorating. Like almost all the other pieces in the Agua Fresca series, the perfume is suitable for the warmer months of spring and summer, to be worn in the morning after a refreshing shower, before starting a day of work or leisure. If you love to travel, for pleasure or work, this is the right fragrance to wear while travelling; it gives you freshness and is also pleasant for those around you. Super cheap and rich, clean, average-lasting aroma. It has a very intense output that gradually subsides after an hour; the projection is reduced. Citrus and wood are spot on. It's not going to upset anyone, and it's adorable. It is ideal for all those countries that enjoy a warm climate with temperatures above 30 °C. Now that I have described this essence in more detail, I feel like ordering and trying the others that I don't own yet, namely Agua Fresca Bergamota Ambar and Agua Fresca Lima Tonka.
