A great alternative

Once again, I bought a perfume because of the bottle… does it make me shallow? I have done it so many times, more times than I can count. It is not, that I have an endless amount of money. And it is not that I have an endless amount of space. I suppose you can boil it down to me being in love with interesting design. Great design makes me really happy.
I bought Kingdom from a man who sold his girlfriend’s things. I hope he sold them with her acceptance. At that time I knew Alexander McQueen from killer heels and creations for Björk and Lady Gaga. I decided that I had to own a scent he had designed, especially because the bottle design was so unique. Looking at it from one angle I see a heart. Looking from a different angle I see a moon. From a third angle it looks like a reversed apple. The depth of the red colour is so beautiful. It makes me want to take a bite. I can almost taste the sweetness of the fruit.
I remember the first time I sprayed it. Like many other perfumistas in here, I could not help noticing the similarity between Dior Dune, which is in my personal top 20, and Kingdom. Dune is 12 years older, though, and won FiFi award two years after its release. I was surprised that, such a renowned designer as AMQ was, he would actually release a fragrance so similar to Dune. If I can smell the similarities, he would definitely have been able to as well. And so would Cavallier, who designed the perfume. Cavallier, who made L’Eau d’Issey, Boucheron Trouble and Lancôme Magnifique… I would have expected him to make something very unique. And I would have expected AMQ to want his own scent. Something unique for his range of unique designs.
But anyways… Kingdom is a great alternative to Dune and its bottle design is as brilliant as Dune’s.
