Watery and soft
I stumbled across this fragrance in a local chemist being sold rather cheaply. I was a little dubious at first, however I wanted to buy my man something so I decided to give it a try.

I find the scent to be very similar to Cool Water by Davidoff, I think it's because of the lavender note. I consider that a good thing because both my man and I love Cool Water.

Hei is a refreshing, clean and rather sexy scent. I figured that since my boyfriend already had Cool Water I would buy Hei in the deoderant and aftershave balm rather than the fragrance. When he blended and layered the two it was difficult to tell the difference.

Hei is a fabulous fragrance for those warmer months because it is so light and casual. The lasting strength is also wonderful.

I don't regret buying Hei products for my boyfriend, yet sometimes I wish that women weren't so attracted to the scent. He certainly receives many compliments and interested women when he wears this fragrance.

Walking On The Chinese Wall
A YouTuber turned me on to Alfred Sung Homme cologne as one of the best blinds buys below 30 euro, and while searching for that one, I stumbled into Hei, which instantly gained my attention. To begin with, the bottle is cutesy, egg-shaped like that of Cabotine de Grès but with the upper part narrower than the bottom, which makes it more similar to a kind of raindrop. The glass is sheer and contains a light mineral-blue-violet juice. Just to give you a hint, Hei (2002) is on par with Nautica Voyage (2006), they have some vibes in common and share the same green-floral-amber-musk path, yet they are not a clone of one another. Hei takes its inspiration by traditional Feng Shui Chinese culture, very close to nature, water, earth, wood, and metal. It reminds me of a dawn walk on the Chinese Wall, in the middle of a bamboo forest, the water flowing gently from a stream, the grass covered by the early morning dew, and all around the Wall surrounded by redolent white jasmine flowers.

The cologne belongs to the aromatic fern family and warms up on my skin with a licorice-like vibe with fresh, clean, herbal, and salty facets. I do get plenty of aqueous and wet leafy accord, the green freshness of the bamboo shines, which is fine with me since I love the verdant and grassy aroma of that evergreen plant. I notice a powdery accord that lingers for a spot, I think it is coming from the bergamot blended with violet leaves. These potentially clean and bright notes come through a little creamy, soapy, and powdery. There is a minty undertone, though, the opening is all too aqueous and herbal. All the greens are balanced and blended nicely, and this stage brings an uplifting sensation the moment you spray it on.

This aura so light does not last long, and soon it deepens into something darker, heavier, and ale. Fennel presents itself with its slightly aromatic and rustic tone of anise. The flowery jasmine blends with the powdery blue lavender and the sweet-honeyed and a little metallic neroli. This bouquet is topped with a handful of spicy green cardamom gems mixed with pungent feathery leaves of sour dill so that the floral accord is not too feminine. The florals are not striking but add a slight sweetness to the body, which is delightful. The middle stage is akin to luscious scent in the air after a summer rain, but with a little more character.

When the dry down arrives it will catch you with an oriental take full of sweet amber and roasted tonka bean. Some woodiness comes from cedarwood and reddish mahogany with the light rainforest type of smell, and a noble touch of animal white musk that appears in the final stage when the perfume has become as one with the skin and lasts until the scent disappears.

To me, Hei is a slightly watery green herbal with an ever so gentle oriental finish, a very amicable and composed fragrance. A bit like a bar of soap with a floral undertone slightly woody, not too sweet, instead it is green and flower inside. Good with a unique smell of spearmint and bamboo. This could be considered an aquatic, yet is a bit classier, and nowhere near as obnoxious as the more popular ones. Comfortable to wear because it is not offensive, could be worn during the warmer months, perfect for a bright sunny day, for that weekend of being out and about, or better for office, and informal parties. I think this hasn't excellent longevity, just subtle. Where one may damn Hei as weak, another may laud it as delicate. Hei captures the scents of nature quite well, but like a fresh breeze carrying scent, it surrounds you full of life, and then is gone, leaving only a hint of what it was and a beautiful memory and experience. A blind buy that worth it.

A Gentle Masterpiece
Both the scent and the brand were previously unknown to me. If I didn't have a good friend who occasionally introduces me to new fragrances, I would have missed out on many great scents. Just like this splendid specimen.

Although I am a fan of fragrances with a strong presence and Hei is more of a quiet player, I can definitely warm up to it. The pleasant and understated aquatic opening is rounded, cuddly, and velvety fresh. No seaweed, no spray, or dead fish. With the light and pleasantly soapy heart note, Hei shows a bit more dominance but remains polite and very relaxed in the background. However, Hei is by no means just background noise that you occasionally catch a whiff of. I can perceive the scent almost the entire (work) day, but it never takes up too much space for itself.

Hei does play its strengths a bit better in warm temperatures than in the prevailing damp-cold season, but it is certainly wearable year-round.
I haven't smelled it on the female gender yet, but I can imagine that it fulfills its charming purpose very well here as well.

The bottle is kept very simple, yet it appears incredibly elegant and graceful. There is no ostentation here, and the character of the fragrance is perfectly captured by the bottle.
The price should fit quite well for most budgets.

A great quiet player that elevates your day.

Thank you for reading.

light as a feather
I don't even remember how long I've had this scent, but I've only used it at most 4 times. In each of these sprays was something familiar, like a memory of something.

Today while spraying, I finally know what it is; it somehow reminds me of Heaven by Chopard. So light and airy, a bit floral and fresh.

One difference might be the bamboo, but I can't say for sure, yet it fills me with a sense of calm and lightness.

I only wear this scent on stressful, complicated days, so it balances out.

All in all, this scent is great just as it is, long-lasting, and the sillage after over 3 hours is amazing; only the bottle, in my opinion, does not look like the bottle of a men's fragrance.

Heaven by Chopard Cologne
Heaven light!
Anyone who knows how the masterpiece men's perfume "Heaven by Chopard" from the 90s smells will immediately have a nasal insight into how Hei smells.
And anyone who is familiar with the decade's perfume Heaven will be rubbing their hands together because they can finally get something for a bargain price that can be rightfully compared to Heaven.
For those who do not know Heaven: The perfume was discontinued and is one of the scents that the men's community mourns the most.
100ml were last traded for €500, if you can even find it. Even Gucci Envy can't compete with that. Heaven is a masterpiece that flies under the radar. Less known than Cool Water, but at least as celebrated.
Joop Nightflight smells similar to Heaven.

With Hei, you get a fragrance that comes in a very sophisticated bottle, has an above-average good sprayer, and carries a minimalist aesthetic name.
Hei is worth every single cent, keeping in mind that it is a Heaven Cologne/Light. It doesn't last 10 hours like Heaven did back in the day. It doesn't project as strongly as Heaven either.
But which perfume nowadays does that?
Not even the extrait de parfums have the projection of the 80s/90s.
When you wore an Eau de Toilette in the 80s and 90s, it was akin to a spatial nuclear detonation that prompted a security team to secure the area and seal it off for three days.
I only say:
Trussardi Uomo (which I actually offer as an original in the souk!), Kouros, Davidoff no.1, Boss no. 1, Gucci Nobile, etc.
To get something like that nowadays, you need a 2019 Creed Aventus, MFK Baccarat Rouge, or PDM Pegasus.
So, with a longevity of about 5 hours and a sillage of about 1 hour, one can be quite satisfied when getting a men's fragrance at such a low price.
In direct comparison, I can say the following:
The association with Heaven is immediate as soon as you apply Hei.
It is subtler, lighter, airier.
But it also lacks something in the scent.
When you wear a fragrance like Heaven or MFK BR, you have a kind of sparkling magic powder cloud around you. A kind of stardust that enchants the senses.
There’s no other way to describe it. This nasal impression is hard for me to put into words, and only a few fragrances create this magic. Hei cannot deliver that.
BUT
Only decade fragrances can do that!
Nevertheless, Hei is a good perfume.
Fresh, airy, aquatic with a more floral note than Heaven. It is lighter than Heaven. It is brighter but less captivating. It has the sweetness of tonka, but less intense. It is a bright fragrance for a positive feeling. "Uplifting." Goes everywhere. Casual, office, date. Even in the club in summer.

Clubs? Those are the places where you are social, meet people, and even kiss sometimes, even if you have a cold.
Anyway, it can't always rain.

Continuing...
Three sprays on the body (neck/ears) and two on clothing allow me to still perceive the scent outdoors after an hour in intervals, which is something I miss in today's fragrances.
Nevertheless, after an hour it is close to the skin.
In a few days, I'm off to Cancun, Mexico. No face masks and social distancing for fake pandemics, and indoctrinated anxiety neurotics. I want to see what the ladies say after 2 hours and if there are any compliments. Until then. Stay straight.

Light, airy freshness that works almost all the time. The performance is quite acceptable for an aquatic. A good alternative to Heaven and Nightfl.

Affordable, fresh-woody scent with slight barbershop associations, yet quite natural. Great "home fragrance," definitely worth trying.
