Who Stole the Coconut?
Contrary to the fragrance pyramid, which can be found in several places online, I don't smell a hint of coconut here. There is definitely no coconut in it.
I had to order it untested because the perfume is rarely available online and not at all in perfumeries anymore. But a week ago, I came across a good offer.
Coconut was a gamble since I don't particularly like it. However, since all the Arrogance scents I have are very nice, I just ordered it. The package came directly from Italy.
The bottle is wrapped in white plastic, almost padded. Instead of a cap, it has a clip with a white satin ribbon around the spray neck. The ribbon says Angelique Arrogance. I quite like the white bottle just as it is.
It is a limited edition. This is also stated on the packaging.
Angelique Arrogance pour Femme starts relatively unsweet, citrusy, and floral-green. But only slightly green. The scent transforms into a powdery, very lightly sweet fragrance that fits perfectly for daytime in spring.
But it can basically be worn in any season and at any time of day.
Aside from iris root and magnolia in a musk-wood base, I don't particularly pick out any of the fragrance notes. The scent is lightly green, powdery-woody, and relatively not sweet. Any existing sweetness is muted by something else.
The Arrogance "pour Elle" is sweet-powdery, while the "pour Femme" is bitter-green. The pour Femme was too scratchy and too green for me, very much in the style of the 1980s. This one is a fine blend of powdery and bitter-green. A very subtle, bitter note tempers the sweetness here.
I would have been interested in walnut and champaca as fragrance notes. But I can't detect anything like that.
EDIT: I just see that champaca is a type of magnolia. So I do smell magnolia, as I mentioned.
The scent will accompany me in my new job. It is unobtrusive, has a clean musk note, and it always fits.
The sillage is not too expansive. The longevity is average at about 6 hours.
I do not regret the purchase. Even though it is less sweet and not a gourmand, as I would have expected according to the fragrance pyramid.
