Sometimes I evaluate...
Sometimes I evaluate and grade people, sometimes perfumes.
In both cases, not only the performance itself is important, but also the context.
If someone gives their best, shows effort, and ultimately cannot present a good performance, then that’s how it is. That’s okay and not a big deal. The examinee is not a bad person, and I know that other things are more important. So what?
However, if someone who could actually do better delivers a poor performance in a completely unmotivated and indifferent manner, then I get annoyed by the displayed disrespect.
This exact feeling has been transformed into a "perfume" by "By Terry" here.
Unmotivated, uninspired, indifferent, one is offered just enough to still grant the label "sufficient," but without any recognition of fighting spirit or similar - this is just as absent as longevity or sillage.
A scent of fresh laundry that has been smelled a thousand times before, further marred by some incredibly artificial and cheap maritime notes, that it would barely suffice for "Mr. Clean Oceanfresh."
I can tolerate something like this as a deodorant for 13-year-olds, but when something like this is sold to me as a "perfume"...
Yes, then I get annoyed.
