Scream!
I am somewhat astonished that no one has commented on Shamsin yet! I have had it in my collection for quite some time now, but it is a fragrance that I never use and there is a reason for that:
Labdanum. Apparently, I possess the completely useless ability to sniff out labdanum in the smallest concentrations, and that is really a shame because in Shamsin it overshadows everything else for me.
The clear jasmine, the rose, the incense, and even vanilla and patchouli take a backseat because my nose is panicking and screaming: "Scream! There’s labdanum in there! Get it away!"
Still, I dare to make a (purely subjective!) description:
Labdanum is predominant for me and is present the whole time. The fragrance starts sweet-floral with the jasmine and a bit of daffodil, and the incense is already noticeable, giving it a slightly smoky note. Something sparkles in the nose, a similar effect to carbonation or aldehydes; I don’t know what it is. All of this rests on a musky-soft base (as I said, I can't really pick out the patchouli and vanilla) and the fragrance doesn’t really change over time. Sillage and longevity are average.
The fragrance is really well made, not smelling synthetic, but very solid and of absolutely high quality, yet unfortunately it is not for me.
