Soft, inoffensive woodsiness
Woodhue is such a temperamental fragrance on my skin. Some days it smells divine, yet other days, (if applied straight after a shower), it tends to be unpleasantly sharp and musky.
The scent, when it decides to smell nice, is something I could easily fall in love with. The woods in this composition are spicy, resinous and smooth. Jasmine and ylang ylang provide the woodsy accords with buttery and subtly sweet undertones, and the geranium adds an interesting tartness.
While the opening is indeed strong, and slightly masculine, the heart is a softer, more powdery and relaxed woodsy fragrance, that is both soothing and strangely sensual.
The woods are mostly that of the cedar and sandalwood, however a rich and dry vetiver occasionally rises to the occasion adding another dimension to this already fascinating blend.
Unfortunately the composition is quite linear from the heart into the drydown, but all in all, still likable. I wish this fragrance had better longevity on my skin, as it only lasts a matter of hours. Ava Luxe usually produces fragrances that last for a lot longer than Woodhue. A shame really.
