Musk For a Perfect Day
Ava Luxe sits somewhere between niche and indie. Having tried over a dozen scents from this house, I've found they run the gamut from complex, masterfully-blended bangers like Vilanelle and No 33 to one-note, craft fair-style scents like Red Tara and Love's True Bluish Light.
Musk For a Perfect Day proves that Ava Luxe can bring together simplicity with quality. Each note in the pyramid is beautifully rendered, from the cheerful citron burst in the opening to the tart blackcurrant and creamy peony in the heart and the lovely, lingering, deliciously lactonic woody-musk base. The story is straightforward, but thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end. This could certainly be a signature scent, and I anticipate it will be an enduring warm-weather staple.
On a related note, I sincerely hope this brand gets more traction in the online review space. These scents are good, some even great, and they all deserve considerably more attention.
