Juicy, sweet plum..

Balr. 1 was not initially on my radar. A blind buy out of curiosity for the plum, however, brought me immense joy (to my luck) and a backup :D.

Balr. 1 starts with a plum, just as I hoped, juicy, ripe, and thanks to the caramel, so beautifully sweet..

It is a dense but not cloying sweetness. It is fruity, but not too sticky.

After a moment, this sweetness fades slightly. Jasmine, rose, and lotus bring a floral touch without the scent drifting into the floral territory.
It lingers for quite a while until the base notes complete it and round it off warmly.

For me, the fragrance has a sexiness without being cheap.
It doesn’t shout, but it has presence.

On my skin, it is quite expansive for about 4 hours and then becomes more intimate.
Then you need a little breeze for it to reach others. However, if you get close, it will still be noticed. After about 6 hours, it is definitely close to the skin.
On clothing, the longevity is significantly longer.

Someone has truly created something beautiful in the bottle.
A bottle that is designed very discreetly in the shape of a hexagon. Even the name Balr. 1 gives no hint of the wonderful perfume inside.

I am very pleased with this new addition :)

Grandiose Plum

BALR.1 is one of my blind buys from 2021….I love gourmands and all the positive reviews about the juicy plum along with the affordable price convinced me to make the blind purchase…..and I must say, thank God….the opening with the sweet, juicy plum is grandiose…..the sweet caramel is also well noticeable……wonderful enough to bite into…..the longevity is good….and the sillage too…..I have received compliments several times for the delicious scent…..the bottle has a high recognition value and looks great in the bathroom…..an unusual fragrance that fits the cooler/cold season….not for warm days…..a clear recommendation for a blind buy from me……

Caramelized Plum in a Sand Cloak

Now that autumn is in full bloom, it's time for autumnal gourmands. "BALR. 1" is such a fragrance. Full-bodied, radiant caramelized plum supported by an opaque floral bouquet. In between, all sorts of tropical fruits and a bit of crunching sand. I think the sandalwood is responsible for this fine-crunchy sand note. The scent progression remains stable for hours, but is never boring due to the finely nuanced background notes. The sillage is and remains clearly perceptible for about 5 hours. After that, "BALR. 1" slowly weakens with a longevity of 10 hours, but is still faintly detectable.
I find the bottle very original; it has a high recognition value.

Conclusion: A rather unusual fragrance that fits perfectly into autumn.

The Failed Search for the Perfect Plum

The plum is a plant species that offers some delicious varieties, including the damson and the mirabelle. The sweet, fruity, and sometimes sour or slightly fermented-liqueur aroma of plums can be found in some selected fragrance creations.

Hey purple lady - what’s wrong with you?

I want to like you sooo much - but you are a difficult character. In this case.

You are sharp, you turn corners, conceited, and drunk. I had planned for coziness, but you’re being all fussy. Fluffy-fruity opens up, but that doesn’t last long. I perceive an alcoholic Eau de Cologne character, which connects with fleeting jasmine and wilted rose petals. The plum lady is left abandoned, with a bit of caramel and a sweet overheating. Woody nuances can’t save anything anymore.

I turn away.

What a pity.

No tonka, no sandalwood.

Still, I will keep you.

Failed Blind Purchase

I wanted to love this scent: The blend of plum, citrus, and tonka appealed to me. After reading the reviews here and watching some reviews on YouTube, I took the plunge and made a blind purchase. I should have refrained from doing so.

In the opening, I am overwhelmed by a cloyingly sweet caramel cloud that disappears after a few seconds. What remains is a musty sweetness. The plum is hardly noticeable. To me, it smells like someone sprayed an old couch with a fabric scent spray, and now both scents are competing against each other.

Very unfortunate, as I really enjoy ripe plum fragrances. Therefore, this scent will soon leave me.

If you prefer something less sweet and creamy with plum, you should check out Cuir de Marrakech by Maïssa. It has more incense and less fruitiness, and yet feels rounder to me.

Warm, dark, velvety plum. Super sweet + garnished with an artificial fruit mix. A hint of jasmine. In the dry down, a lot of synthetic wood. Not for me.
