Oh, do I love galbanum!

Yet one more fragrance from my top20 - maybe in my top 5 if you put a pistol to my head and ask me. Everything about this is just perfect for me. The bottle is gorgeous, the scent wonderful and the price reasonable. What’s not to like?
I am a great admirer of the House Balmain, so I am not surprised that they have created one of my favourite scents. I know the former Ivoire from 1980, which has very little in common with this newer one from 2012, and I prefer the new interpretation, eventhough the 1980 is beautiful as well. 2012 feels more modern and less heavy.
The top notes create one of the best beginnings I have ever experienced. The violet leaf, galbanum and mandarin orange entwined lift and sometimes improve my mood to such a degree that I think this is more than a perfume. It is at the same time a very enduring beginning. Some days more than half an hour.
The heart comes sneaking up on me. I am able to smell both rose, iris and jasmine. No ylang-ylang for me but it does not matter. This is a well-known combination - some would say traditional, but in this scent it works so well.
The base appears after many hours, 6-8, and is mostly cedar and vetiver to me. A wonderful landing after such a journey.
I have the lovely, heavy 100ml bottle. The square glass top and the delicate label with beautiful writing leaves nothing left to wish for. The only thing wrong with it is that I only have 20ml left…
