The most delicious lemon-raspberry cookie.

I expected to like this the least of the Vacay set, but it is 100% the winner for me. It's the sweet lemon icing on a vanilla cookie.
It's not at ALL like Akro Bake (more foody), DG Devotion (floor cleaner), Hufflepuff (more peachy & cakey)... it's honestly like a lemon version of Pink Sugar!
The freesia and musk class things up from just being a childish body splash, while the lemon-raspberry is dusted in fine white sugar. I hope they sell this in big-bottle format because I NEED it. At the very least, I'm happy to pop this in my purse and enjoy on spring & summer days!

Summery lemon and raspberry delight

I'm a big fan of lemony gourmands. Citrus on its own is often a bit boring to me, but as soon as they add some vanilla or sugary notes, I love it.

Capri Lemon Sugar did not disappoint. You can really smell the fresh lemon, but also the raspberry, which might be my favorite fruit ever. And, of course, the vanilla and sugar!

This is not a sparkling citrus scent, texturally it feels creamy and also a bit powdery on the drydown. It's more like a limoncello (without the booziness) than a lemonade. But what it really reminds me of is a lemon and raspberry bar with a thick custardy cream and lots of powdered sugar - one that doesn't have a lot of baked dough, a light one for the summer.

A hint of white musk keeps it firmly in perfume territory and out of the realistic foody realm. But be warned, this is only for those who have an olfactory sweet tooth. It's not a particularly complex scent, what you see is what you get. Just good vibes and happiness, truly like a vacation in a bottle!

I really hope Kayali will make full bottles of the vacation perfumes soon.

Lemon and raspberry cake with a synthetic edge

When I saw the leak of the Vacay In a Bottle set, I knew I was gonna get the 10ml mini bottle set and not the sample set. I was pretty curious to see Kayali tackling summer scents and the notes didn't seem bad for each of these perfumes. I decided to test them in their box order which is why this one is the second up for a review.

Somewhere between Love & Crime and "Casamorati - Lira | XerJoff" lies Kayali's interpretation of a lemon scented cake. Capri In a Bottle Lemon Sugar removes the heaviness and the cloying aspect in favor of a lighter scent, fit for warm weather wear. If you love Xerjoff and Ex Idolo for winter, you'll assuredly love this one for summer. It's sweet and sugary, with a distinct lemon scent that's accompanied by tart and fruity raspberries. At the edge, there's the hint of fresh floral freesias, but lemon, raspberries, sugar and vanilla remain the stars. As the perfume evolves over time, it gets lighter and more airy than during its first few minutes which is when I understood why so many people mentioned the light lemon and raspberry iced tea scent they got. There's also an evanescent synthetic accord that rises up with this freshness. It doesn't bother me as much, but I have to mention it's there. The drydown is a musky scent with some leftover sweetness.

I'm pretty sure comparisons with this perfume and a BBW body mist layering will be drawn as I do get more of a BBW vibe from this one than other Kayali perfumes. The projection is not as bad as I thought, although it's certainly not a monster. It also has more longevity than what I thought it would have. I do have to say I'm a little disappointed as I was expecting this one to be my favorite of the collection, but right now it's not. I wanted more freshness and juicy fruitiness. I get more of a sugary dessert made for warm weather wear with a synthetic edge. Probably wouldn't go for a full 50ml bottle if Kayali ever decides to release them in different full bottle sizes, but it wasn't that bad for a blind-buy.

A note on the Vacay In A Bottle set:
While I do not regret my blind-buy purchase of the 10ml mini bottles, I recommend people try out the sample set before going for the 10ml. All four of them were lovely, but I don't feel like they were on par with older Kayali fragrances. Personal opinion incoming: I think Kayali should slow down on the releases and work towards solidifying their brand and their intentions. The Vacay In A Bottle feels a little bit gimmicky to me, like a cash grab. I would've seen them as body mists instead of perfumes. The perfumes aren't really unique and I've often thought of them as being a bit generic.

In order of preference: Maui In A Bottle Sweet Banana | 37, Maldives In A Bottle Ylang Coco | 20, Capri In A Bottle Lemon Sugar | 14 and Marrakesh In A Bottle Orange Blossom | 24. This is a little bit surprising as I thought the order would look like: Capri In A Bottle Lemon Sugar | 14, Maldives In A Bottle Ylang Coco | 20, Marrakesh In A Bottle Orange Blossom | 24 and Maui In A Bottle Sweet Banana | 37.

Lemon custard

A refreshing take on a lemon gourmand! Smells like creamy lemon custard with tart candied raspberries on top and whipped vanilla cream. Dry down has a nice fluffy and musky touch with remnants of the sugary notes. In a sea of citrus gourmands, the raspberry makes this unique and refreshingly tart. I love that the lemon isn’t particularly citrusy, just fresh, and feels very softened up by the sugar and musk notes here. Lightwearing, easy going, and perfect for a summer gourmand.

My summer fragrance 2024

First of all: I am an insane lover of sweet fragrances, as long as they don't smell "sticky".

And for summer 2024, I have found a very special companion: "Capri in a Bottle" by Kayali. I was lucky enough to discover the fragrance through the "Vacay in a Bottle" test kit and I was blown away from the very first spray.

I was immediately impressed by the incredible composition of notes. It's as if Kayali has captured summer in a bottle.

The fragrance opens with an explosion of candied citrus fruits that inevitably remind me of my childhood: of Solero ice cream or an ice-cold lemonade on a hot summer's day - fruity, sweet and refreshing at the same time.
But it's not just the sweetness that makes this fragrance so special. It's the perfect balance that Kayali has created here - in my opinion, there are few fragrances that have a sweet main note and still smell elegant and luxurious.

After the initial fruity notes, the fragrance develops into something more complex and sophisticated. As if the sun were slowly settling on the skin while a gentle summer breeze blows over a Mediterranean landscape. The citrus notes remain present, but they are complemented by delicate, floral accords and a subtle warmth due to the vanilla.

What makes "Capri in a Bottle" so unique for me is its versatility.
Although it is light and airy, it has a depth to it that sets it apart from other summer fragrances. It stands out but is never overpowering. Instead, it leaves a soft, cheerful trail that reminds me of happy days in the sun every time I wear it.

Like most citrusy fragrances, it unfortunately doesn't last that long (about 4h), but that's absolutely not a bad thing. Because guys, I'm so happy that the "Vacay in a Bottle" fragrances are now available individually - even if only as 10 ml bottles. This handy size is perfect for always having the fragrance with you, whether you're traveling or for spontaneous freshening up when you're out and about.

For me, "Capri in a Bottle" is the epitome of summer 2024.
Joy, lightness and elegance combined in one bottle - and I can't think of a better companion for the upcoming beach vacation (we're going to Barcelona!).
