Something special and straightforward!
I can see why other reviewers may not have enjoyed this perfume because it's not like a perfume. It is pure and green and alone. If this floral note isn't already something you really appreciate, it will likely turn you off with its straightforwardness. If you're looking for a more perfumey Cartier lily, go with Basier Vole.

That said, I adore Pur Muget. There is something nostalgic, something peaceful and serene about it. This perfume is so cleanly and unapologetically an ode to lily of the valley. It makes me feel young and alive and outside on the most beautiful spring day after weeks of rain.

I want my whole house to smell like this, like I've thrown open the windows after a deep clean and the wind has blown in the fragrant blooms as the sunlight dapples through the waving canopies of trees. I can picture myself finishing a cup of coffee as I'm folding the laundry, the cats are napping in the windowsills, my favorite snack is waiting for me in the other room, and for a breath, everything is just right. With each waft of the scent, this peaceful mirage reappears.

I could see myself putting this on first thing in the morning, doing yoga, running errands, taking a spa day, and just pampering myself in general. I think I'll be getting a full bottle of this down the road.

Photorealistic but extremely simplistic
I'm getting a ton of muguet (lily of the valley), a touch of mandarin and the slightest hint of lime. The drydown brings forth some freshly cut plant stems — not quite as acrid as freshly cut grass.

This is a fragrance without much depth, although it is executed very well. I do appreciate that the perfumer went for a slight zinginess over a more mellow/flat lily of the valley note.

Projection lasts 1-2 hours on my skin, and the scent will stay on the skin for 4-5 hours.

This is definitely a safe blind buy, especially for those who just want to smell flowery, but... it might be *too safe* of a blind buy and ultimately lack anything interesting.

an underwhelming surprise
Like most perfume i smelled it on a perfume paper at first. The smell was very interesting, very floral and fresh, with something of a musky scent.
This was a completely different story on my skin, it really just smells like lily of the valley. No complexity or evolution. A single and disappointing note of a fragrance.
Im not even sure i would recommend it to someone who loves this specific flower because of the grassy smell that comes with it.
To be tested on a woman's skin. This was not for me.

Go smell it and form your own opinion

Delicacy
White-green. Gentle. Pure. Quiet. Naturalistic. A pure lily of the valley.

Sweetly floral, musky creamy soapy, grassy mossy powdery. So fragile that I have a natural respect for it. Incredibly sensitive and balanced in composition. Like much that is truly beautiful, it is only a suggestion. Like curtains gently billowed by the wind. Like the delicate touch of a hand. Fascination from the very first moment.

In its sweetness and musky creamy soapiness, it is comparable to Floris' lily of the valley. In its silky tone with Comme de Garçons 'Lily'. These characteristics also unite in Dior's 'Diorissimo EdT' from 2009, but there it is more robust, louder, one-dimensional. The grassy mossy note faintly reminds one of Penhaligon's 'Lily of the valley', but is softer, brighter, quieter. A blend of fresh grass and a slightly darker, very subtly smoky powdery mossiness. It does not have a clear chypre feel like the British one, but a hint of it. This special green bitter tint sets it apart from the aforementioned and gives it a wonderful naturalness (the water lily below speaks of its so far "most naturalistic lily of the valley scent" - which resonates with my experience), creating an appealing counterpoint to the silky creamy soapiness. The latter characteristic keeps it modern, while the green aspect makes it timeless. Additionally, it is free from the artificiality that underlies many lily of the valley scents.

For me, it belongs alongside the Guerlain annual editions and the Comme de Garçon scent as one of the most beautiful pure lilies of the valley (although one could classify 'Lily' as not entirely pure due to its distinctly rosy undertone). However, in contrast to the CdG scent, this one, like the Guerlain - and this is my only criticism - is significantly too expensive (270 € for 75 ml, Guerlain's Muguet is priced at 600 € for 145 ml). Especially since there is no known natural source for the extraction of lily of the valley essence. And even if it stands out qualitatively in personal impression from, for example, Penhaligon's scent or even Hermès' 'Muguet Porcelaine' (plastic tone), Cartier plays the exclusivity card here a bit too much for my taste. In this context, some of its pure skin scent character may also be bothersome (almost immediately close to the skin, although long-lasting), which is certainly due to the orientation of the Les Épures line towards the Asian market (épuré = pure, simple, sketch-like). The rating is still high because I really like lily of the valley scents and this, in my eyes, is an outstanding representative. However, if this price also leaves you shaking your head, you will find a good alternative in the 2009 'Diorissimo EdT' in terms of scent impression. However, it does not reach the particularly transparent, graceful quality of the Cartier - and I can confirm Intersport's impression on that.

Music:
A musical match for me is the optimistic, natural, delicate, down-to-earth, calm, and simultaneously slightly melancholic timbre of Nadia Reed's "Oh Canada" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEezVTnGuZE).

Note:
Since March 2022, the synthetic aldehyde Lilial, which is significantly used in the creation of a lily of the valley scent, has been banned by the EU for fragrance production. This is justified by the possibility of a negative impact on fertility, which has been demonstrated in animal testing. It can also cause allergic reactions (skin dermatitis). Whether it was used in this fragrance, I cannot say. An alternative is, for example, the harmless aldehyde Bourgeonal. Since the fragrance underlying this review was produced in September 2019, the use of Lilial is possible. If that is the case, it may smell different from versions produced after this date. Therefore, it would be interesting to note the production date in future reviews.

Supplement from 04.10.2022:
According to the brand, Lilial was avoided from the beginning of development because they knew that the ban would come in spring 2022. This means that the original scent can be maintained without changes for the time being.

Vibrantly green, freshly floral, and utterly heavenly. Pur Muget is the elegant simplicity of being outside on a perfect spring day.

I could find no beauty in this fragrance- a fresh opening leading to a too realistic lily of the valley dressed around by grass cuttings.

Here, the dominant notes are herbal, green, fresh lily of the valley, and if you enjoy a naturalistic tone like I do, you'll be happy here.

At first, shy green, budding lily of the valleys quickly open to the light and then unfold a full, confident floral splendor.

How nice that there's still something to say about the muguet theme, here so transparent like never before, ultra-light and graceful. Superb!

For me, the most natural lily of the valley scent so far: like a clear & bright spring morning, without any sweetness and very green.
