Even Cedar Trees Sweat
I almost chose as a headline: "The Perfect Cedar Scent." I think that says enough. Cedarwood is probably my most beloved of all wood scents, and I truly love Cedre Divine; despite its simplicity and linear nature, I consider it one of the best in this genre. I believe I was already familiar with it from the Parfumo meeting at the end of last year with Mr. Benchaabane, so I was very pleased to have a sample here as well.
Since no one has written anything about this cedar masterpiece yet, I hope this first comment can do justice to the fragrance and my fascination with it. Even though only the balsamic Atlas cedar is mentioned above and officially, I can't help but mention a few impressions and notes that my nose also perceives. Of course, it is a heavy, woody, Arabic cedar scent, perfect for autumn, but there is more. The fragrance exudes an enormous masculine aura, sweaty and human. Perhaps it's a hint of saffron or amber, or simply the sun of Morocco or from the heart of the perfumer. Or this cedar simply offers much more within itself that is not perceived in other cedar fragrances. An animalistic-balsamic quality, full of feeling and passion. Masculine and soft at the same time. Woody yet sunny. Oriental and enveloping, yet sensual-sexy. Strict and serious, but also easily dosed, almost conceivable as an office scent. Like almost all cedar fragrances, I somehow always associate them with offices, suits, and computers. Comparable, but much more diluted and not as pure, would be: Gucci Rush for Men, Azzaro Visit, or perhaps Wonderwood.
Bottle: looks extremely simple on the website.
Sillage & Longevity: strong and present, anytime and lasting 9-12 hours. Here you can feel in every fiber that this is handcrafted, almost niche within the niche.
This raises the anticipation for the soon-to-come EdP of Soir de Marrakesch even more. The man knows his craft; his fragrances feel original, unadulterated, thick, natural, and very oriental. Even if there are supposedly only one (or at least a few) ingredients, like the cedar here!
