Herbaceous-citrusy companion, more garden than opera house.
I am quite a big fan of classical music, but I have a terrible aversion to operas per se. I also don't like musicals, and the overlap of the excessively theatrical singing in both cases, performed spontaneously in various life situations, is completely suspicious and bizarre to me. As a 13-year-old, I listened to the "3 Tenors" on repeat, which was also the mainstream route and limited to enjoying the voices and catchy melodies.
From the great Verdi, I own a CD of his best overtures, and they are indeed a class of their own. To this CD, now joins as a blind test No.6 thanks to Cappellusman "Verdi".
Once again, an outsider that suggests something different than its namesake would aromatically imply. I would have expected something more solemn from a classical world namesake, but the scent is bursting with green acidity. Clear lemon, basil, a distinctly pronounced nutmeg note, which somewhat spoils the fragrance for me with its slightly dry-spicy nuttiness.
In its composition, it somewhat resembles the old Italian Arrogance fragrances, especially "Uomo", although that one is noticeably smoother.
In the base, I still perceive pronounced moss and a bit of musk, always on the edge of bitterness and green-tinged. Solid, but not my type.
