Still as good as in the summer of 1977

The very first of the "Eaux Jeunes" - and still the best. It used to be called "Eau Jeune de l'Oreál". Freshness, summer, relaxation in a bottle. Sparkling, green citrussy notes - the current version smells as good as the stuff from 1977.
That's a good-enough reason to rejoice. When I'm in France, I always buy a back-up bottle. It's an inexpensive pleasure: about 9 euros per bottle.
I call this a brilliant blast from the past.

Eau Jeune was available as a fragrance from the brand L'Oreal in the late seventies here as well. In a fresh version (green bottle, simply called Eau Jeune, with lettering almost exactly as shown above) and in an oriental version (orange-brown bottle, called Eau Jeune Oriental, with the same lettering). Both smelled quite good, fairly pleasing (how could it be otherwise with L'Oreal), and light. The scent was not very long-lasting, but that's okay for an Eau. Especially the fresh version was quite widespread and available in every department store.

At some point, probably in the 80s, Eau Jeune completely disappeared. Today, it sometimes still pops up in fragrance forums here (under the category "Does anyone still know ...?), otherwise it is no longer present and not available anymore. But in France, there now seems to be a whole range of fragrances being sold under the Eau Jeune brand. It's actually surprising that they are not available here, considering L'Oreal usually tends to spread its products everywhere.
