The 980€ Joke

Yesterday, I tested Golden Aries. My expectations were for a fragrance that conveys a feeling of vacation like Telea, Cabiria, or "Le Vestiaire - Supreme Bouquet | Yves Saint Laurent". The extremely high price naturally created high expectations for me. After all, Golden Aries wants to play in the same league as Roja and Henry Jacques.

After spraying it on, disappointment set in immediately. My first thought was WTF is this supposed to be. Yes, Golden Aries does smell like a vacation, but I simply don't smell any quality here. My first thought was Victoria's Secret body spray. Unfortunately, the quality of Golden Aries, aside from its longevity, is not much higher. Golden Aries smells to me like chemical peach, ylang-ylang, a lot of tuberose, jasmine, frangipani, chemical rose, currant, and in the base, musk and a load of sandalwood join in, where the oud is supposed to be, I don't know. Unfortunately, the whole fragrance feels very unharmonious and chemical, especially because the tuberose and ylang-ylang overshadow everything else.

Golden Aries is truly one of the worst perfumes I have tested recently. There is no quality to be seen here at all. I also let other people smell the perfume. Everyone said it smells cheap or like something under 30€ from the drugstore. Such a thing simply cannot happen at a price of 980€. Golden Aries reminds me of one of those typical scents when 14-year-old girls are just discovering perfume, and I think most of you know these typical sweet synthetic cheap fragrances. That's why I immediately thought of the Victoria's Secret body sprays that I used to smell daily in school.

The longevity is unfortunately not good either. After about 6 hours, Golden Aries was only close to the skin. The same goes for the sillage, which was very subdued the whole time and already goes back to close to the skin after about 4 hours.

I am really angry at the brand because selling something like this for 980€ is just cheeky and not okay. The bottles from BTV do not reflect the price at all. I have had several of the brand's fragrances, and the glass feels cheap, and the caps are made of cheap plastic.

I said it! That's exactly how I perceived it too.

It's quite possible, but the glass is relatively thin-walled and not very high quality. The bottle is worse than some bottles from a €100 fragrance.

Apparently, the Aries is made of gold, and maybe you pay 950 euros for the bottle and just 30 bucks for the scent :-)
