Cheerful Fruity-Floral Freshie
Summer is over, yet I still have a review for a fragrance that best suits the warm season: Cabiria from the Anniversari line. A line that is extremely expensive and comes in a hefty packaging. A large box, when opened, shines an LED on the golden part of the lid. It already seems very decadent, even if it probably isn't that costly to produce. From this line, I also own the "Burdèl | Tiziana Terenzi," which leans towards Alexandria II. Here, this fragrance is indicated as similar to "Kirkè (Extrait de Parfum) | Tiziana Terenzi." These fragrances are quite distant but go in a similarly fruity-floral direction, though they don't remind me of this bestseller from the same house in terms of DNA.
Price-wise, it must be said that the RRP is somewhat cheeky, like many niche fragrances. Currently, 100ml has an RRP of €415. No way, in my opinion, this price is totally inflated and is possibly worth more like half that. Fortunately, it should be noted that the internet prices for Terenzi fragrances are usually between 50 and 70% below the RRP, which often reflects the real value of the fragrances quite well.
Cabiria is a fresh-fruity fragrance, where floral notes also unfold after some time, along with the usual musk base. What I particularly like about this fragrance is the wonderful cheerful fruity top note, which lasts a long time. Juicy summer fruit, especially melon, with a fantastic authentic apple note. There’s also a slightly grassy green freshness that simply lifts the mood and fits best with radiant sunshine. Pear and blackcurrant are somewhat overshadowed but may play a part in this wonderful fruity top note. After about an hour, floral notes come into play. Fresh rose & jasmine create a lovely pleasant fresh-floral heart note that beautifully complements the fruity notes. Some heavier heliotrope notes also come in, but they harmonize well with this rather summery creation. The base consists of clean musk, vanilla, and soft woods. You have to be okay with the musk base, which leans towards Kirke and Erba Pura. Here, however, it’s not as overpowering due to the gentle vanilla and sensual wood notes. Overall, it is beautifully soft without having a weak sillage.
Performance is, as usual, very Terenzi-like. For this price, you get quite a lot if performance means a lot to you. Specifically, the fruity-floral part is very strong, and the longevity should easily surpass the 10-hour mark.
Overall, a great unisex fragrance with this typical Terenzi signature. Due to the floral notes, it may be too feminine for some, but anyone interested in fruity-floral can wear this if it suits their type. Versatile in terms of occasion due to the relatively fresh DNA. Also wearable year-round, thanks to the heavier notes in the base.
All in all, a great alternative to fragrances like Kirke. Those who roughly like this style could find an alternative here. I think the melon opening is fantastic, and the further development is pure Italian joy of life. Worth it, especially at the price between €150-170.
