Legendary Status Well Deserved

Aside from the occasional mini, where you never know if it's gone bad, there are simply no more examples of the original Bogner from 1985. Not even for outrageous prices on eBay, like a Relax by Davidoff, the old Jil Sander fragrances, or an Envy by Gucci, which are somehow still available, somewhere. But here, there’s no chance, sorry 80s fans of this one true (along with the similar Deep Forest) Bogner scent. I also think a revival or reissue is out of the question, especially considering the sales policy of naming several fragrances over the decades the same or very similarly - which is nonsense and pure confusion, but we already know that from Jil Sander. Bogner Man (1985) is thus, so to speak, the myth among legends, and one could almost call it legendary. I simply call it fabulous, incredibly good, and I am proud to have received a sample from a dear Parfumo member.

Bogner Man cannot deny its time of origin, nor does it want to, nor does it need to. This classic has power, masculinity, style, cleanliness, and a touch of floral machismo - and not a little of it. The 3-5 people in the world who still own it as an OF with a spray head probably know that they don’t need many sprays. It is completely independent and yet totally 80s. It smells green, balsamic, soapy, strong. Really strong. It also reminds me of many women’s fragrances from back then (and even older) that had a similarly herbaceous and herbal character and also possessed that gentle, almost oriental-sweet core. A wonderful fragrance of international class, not just from the German drugstore! The scent certainly also contains many now-banned fragrance ingredients like oak moss, and you can feel it - I love it! Green moss, lots of forest and leaves, absolutely masculine flowers. How can one interpret flowers as so sexy and masculine, truly successful and bold. It is mostly woody, though. Oh, I’m getting carried away. That’s how it should be!

Bottle: not beautiful - but memorable and typically Bogner. Definitely nicer than the rainbow jackets of the German Olympic team from the beginning of the year in Russia.
Sillage: 80s power meets German feelings just before reunification.
Longevity: about 8 hours - and that’s despite the fact that it has been discontinued for what feels like decades and my sample probably has some years on it too.

Bogner's best, one of the best men’s fragrances of the 80s - and that era had quite a few. It’s a shame that it is so unknown internationally and that nothing more came from the brand afterwards.

What I also wanted to mention: I really love the international perfume community, like on YouTube. But no matter how much they celebrate all their Creeds, Roja Doves, or Xerjoffs there - classics like this Bogner or Relax, Background, and Feeling Man are totally unknown. They are missing out. They should educate themselves further here on Parfumo ;)

I've been searching for this scent for ages. I came across Gaglewski's "Lettre de Noblesse" thanks to the mention in the "twin scent." I think it comes pretty close. Unfortunately, the displayed "Admiral" doesn't fit at all.

Feel free to name names, buddy. Yes, I’m one of the few people on this planet who still owns the original. It really got to you, huh? Good for you!

Recently found a new and original packaged one on eBay for a price (€40) that was well below this limited reissue. So, with a bit of luck ;) But it was quite an experience to open this packaging - amazing! It's in the safe now! ;-DD

This is my husband's favorite scent, and he has two stashed bottles that he guards like a treasure! Only on occasions he deems significant does he sacrifice a few drops, and it always blows me away!
