A Stroke of Luck
I ordered this Bogner for Man over a year ago during a sale at a great price. I didn't know this scent, but the fragrance pyramid convinced me. Very multifaceted. Since I love tonka scents, I really wanted to test or have this one. It was worth it. It is in my personal top 10 for daytime fragrances. Since it is not too heavy for a sweet scent, it fits perfectly into everyday life.
The bottle is not the prettiest, but it is original. The typical B for Bogner should be familiar to most. Especially for the not cheap fashion. However, the fragrances are rather affordable. Not drugstore-level, but definitely something for bargain hunters. Most Bogner fragrances are solid, but nothing really special. However, I have taken a liking to this one.
When I first bought it, I wore it a lot. My 100ml bottle is still well filled, but I’m sure about 20-30ml are missing. That's how it is in a large collection. But old love does not rust, and especially this week I sprayed it on again. Sun, mild 14 degrees. Perfect conditions for this scent. Theoretically a year-round fragrance, but in spring and autumn, in my opinion, it shines the most.
It starts fresh-sweet and becomes a bit heavier over time. However, the freshness remains for a long time. Lemon and mandarin provide a nice introduction. It is hardly citrusy, but they contribute a decent part to the freshness. Added to this are noble light woods with a nice spiciness. Rosemary and basil really fit well into this combo. I especially find rosemary to be a great note. Also fitting here. What is consistently perceivable throughout the entire duration is the tonka bean. A pleasant sweetness that is not sticky or too heavy, also thanks to the fresh and woody notes. A sensual scent that becomes very cozy and soft towards the end. Vanilla, tonka bean, and amber are naturally great notes for that.
The scent DNA slightly reminds me of Armani Code. Not a fragrance twin, but the two go very much in one direction. Naturally, here it is significantly fresher. Overall, this creation is optimal for me. There are no disturbing factors present. It is well suited for the casual type. It is also versatile, although it would be too sweet for the office.
The performance is really top-notch. I get at least 8 hours with strong sillage. Very satisfying.
Unfortunately, it has been discontinued, like most lesser-known fragrances. If this scent had been released under another brand, it might have had more success. Luckily, I still have plenty of ml in my bottle.
