Chocolate? Never!

Amber fragrances always make me quite curious and also my limits regarding scent tolerance like to be tested ;) Recently, I received a sample of Ambre Loup... phew... that was absolutely not for me and I really struggled with nausea. Too sharp and penetrating with strange scent impressions that I don't even want to elaborate on :)
Ambre Noir was on my wishlist and a lovely perfumer sent me a mini before I risk a blind purchase. Thank you again for that.
The comments here have already made me eager to try this amber scent. Chocolate? Never! Not on my skin. I wasn't immediately convinced by the scent and removed it from my wishlist.
But it wanted to be tested again before it gets added to the other minis (which are purely collector's items).
About the scent:
Ambre Noir starts off slightly musty with a lot of myrrh, a bit of bergamot, and a hint of floral notes. Then the amber comes into play, surrounded by dark, balsamic notes, powdery and with a slight green touch. To my nose, it all feels way too heavy and too deep.
But the scent also has something very fascinating... dark with a touch of melancholy.
Towards the base, Ambre Noir becomes softer, warmer, and more powdery. Amber, musk, and vanilla join the balsamic notes.
I also think I can sniff a slightly animalic note... "dirty" sensual ;)
Ambre Noir is, for me, a scent for the night and is more suitable for autumn and winter.
Maybe it will develop differently then. I will definitely test it and add to it if necessary.
I just read the comments again and feel absolutely different from my predecessors.
Where Ambre Sublime shines in bright gold, Ambre Noir is exactly the opposite. Dark and yet warm and soft. Hm... could it be because we are in summer now? Overall, I do like it quite well, it’s not a gourmand, and despite the vanilla, it’s not too sweet... I prefer to eat chocolate rather than smell like it :)
The longevity is around 8 hours plus. The scent is well perceivable but not overwhelming.
The bottle is not a beauty, but it fits the scent.
Conclusion:
Chocolate? Never! Dark balsamic-spicy amber fragrance that gives a powdery warmth over time. The amber-vanilla-musk base = wonderful!
It won't make it into my collection despite a currently favorable souk offer... it’s just too heavy for me personally and this "dirty" sensuality simply doesn’t suit me ;) Maybe I’m just a "scent softie" :)
But anyone looking for a dark amber fragrance that leans towards the spicy-oriental side will definitely find it here!

How do you get chocolate from that, head scratch? Anyway, "Ambre Noir" really comes into its own in the cool, dark season - and maybe you'll feel a bit more dirty than you do now, ;-)...

Not a scent for me, but I enjoyed reading it.

Even though it wasn't really a hit, I'm glad it inspired you to comment, so we get something out of it too :-) Soft egg cup set aside :-)

I just tested it yesterday and found the scent very monotonous and lacking excitement. Warm and stuffy, and definitely not making it onto my wish list.

I get that: chocolate is meant to be eaten, and I don't want to smell like sweet vanilla either... I still don't know what to make of it - guess it needs to be tested at some point ;-)
