I was looking for a summery gift fragrance for my mother-in-law that should be uncomplicated but not generic.
I tried this and that, and finally reached for the Edition Blanche, as I have always scored points with the original 1881 as a gift.
I find the white edition to be more special, yet still "rounded" enough not to be off-putting.
The scent is definitely summery fresh - without veering into citrus territory. The fruity "head" is subtle, and the violet leaf lightly dusts the delicately bitter mimosa, adding elegance to the freshness. Brightly, the heliotrope joins in, emphasizing the "Blanche" in the title. Soft and gently sweet, the vanilla comes in, and musk has a stabilizing effect.
Despite its lightness, Blanche has a decent longevity and makes its elegantly fresh statement.
