At a party, a lady enters...
… the room in a strapless black dress. All heads turn towards her. Her short black hair is slicked back, and her blue eyes shine. She approaches the host and hugs him. She has a dark, charismatic aura that captivates everyone around her.

Upon applying this fragrance, the first thing that hits the nose is a fruity citrus scent that is quickly complemented by floral notes. It then becomes mossy, woody, earthy, resinous, dry, powdery, dark, and animalic with a vanilla accord. And all the while, it carries a halo of an orange blossom twist.

The longevity and sillage are very good.

Here we have a women's fragrance that is exactly that: a scent for women. Due to its dark twist, I find this fragrance suitable for ages 25 and up. But as always, try it for yourself. We guys want to be seduced by the lady wearing this scent. This perfume is perfect for colder days; I wouldn’t wear it on warm days. For daytime, I see this scent as less suitable since it is quite distinctive, and I believe it is better suited for the evening in a bar, club, at dinner, or on a date.

Anyone who enjoys a fruity citrus floral mossy woody earthy resinous dry powdery dark animalic vanilla scent with strong orange blossom would actually be right here if it hadn’t unfortunately been discontinued.

Memory of Paris
This fragrance accompanied me for several years, and I was often complimented on it. I got to know and love it in Paris on the Champs Elysées: I was there with my then-boyfriend and later, still, my husband! We arrived on the Champs Elysées, and my nose was captured by a delicate scent that became more intense the further we went, yet still light and airy like the gentle breeze that was blowing. WONDERFUL, where did that smell so good and delicious come from?? I was approached by a young lady my age, asking if I would like a sample of the new perfume. It was promotion day, and that’s why it would smell like this everywhere... And of course, I wanted a sample!!!
What can I say? L' Insolent became my fragrance for several years, and it always reminded me of the wonderful evening with my love in Paris on the Champs Elysées :)

Come to the Dark Side of the Force
Delicate little souls or noses will probably have to put on Darth Vader's helmet and take a deep breath if they want to test or even get hold of L´Insolent. grchgrchgrchgrch.
Therefore, Ergo is right, it is an olfactory first strike and I only have a mini of it, with a slightly thickened but not spoiled perfume. It must date back to the early days when it was released. An incredible explosion packed with everything that wasn't organically grown. The opening is slightly bitter and scratchy, like a pineapple that isn't quite ripe yet. Trying to sniff out details from this overload... no, my nose can't handle it. The heart note is woody-spicy, dark, drastic. I tested it without a helmet! The drop came out like oil from the little bottle.
Now, I have to contradict Ergo a bit. If you survive the olfactory overkill of the top and base notes, a super dark, deliciously dirty, intense chypre note reveals itself. It's so gei.., uh, genius, that I would give away Darth Vader's wife just for that, in the 7th part of "Star Wars".
Photo of the bottle also in my photo album.

Olfactory First Impression from the 80s
L´Insolent was also part of my collection for a while and accompanied me to many parties.

A floriental par excellence! And who is surprised, a typical 80s powerhouse fragrance.

This scent was somehow comparable to an olfactory first impression. Jackets, scarves, and coats that came into contact with this fragrance mixture, whether intentionally or accidentally, tolerated no other perfume for days! Worn, it was enveloping and loud.

A friend's mother once asked him if he had been driving a prostitute, as the seatbelt still emitted the scent of L´Insolent on Wednesdays. We had gone out together on Saturdays, mind you!

The scent progression of this perfume was typical. Floral-fruity top notes, floral-sweet heart, and spicy-balsamic drydown.

However, L´Insolent was never a bestseller in Germany. It was more of a niche fragrance for women who preferred dominant and loud perfumes.

The brand Charles Jourdan then faced a similar fate as many other brands of that era. They were sold off at bargain prices in drugstores and sank into obscurity.

Charles Jourdan was known for its women's shoes and, from the late 70s, also for cashmere scarves. The bottle was accordingly crowned with a tied black scarf.

A hollow shell of fruchouli, screechy and dusty; like a blackcurrant gummy you find down the back of the sofa.

A fruity citrus start that is flooded with floral notes before becoming dark, mossy, earthy, and wearing an orange crown.

Starts a bit bitter, then mostly turns into a tuberose orange powder amber bomb, almost bubblegum, with a mossy background, crazy/modern.
