Candied animal
Another weird work of art from Rusak. This one is confusing to my nose but I'll do my best here.
I go back and forth between loving it more or less throughout the experience of wearing it. It is warm, and sweet, and floral, and dirty. For me it kind of hits you all at once and its hard to tell what's going on. It smells like floral candies and leather and wood and animals. I think. I keep smelling myself trying to figure it out. I can't say it smells like any one thing because the other smells drag it into weird and unique places. In the opening its a bit more floral-candy, but definitely animalic. A quieter animal than Caji for sure. It's more woody-incensey in the middle of it's life. The aniseed-licorice seems like the main base note that is always present, especially towards the end.
It's really hard to describe, honestly, I'm definitely lacking experience to give an explanation that does it justice, but I had to try since no one else has reviewed it. But, as an anise-based scent, which typically isn't something I enjoy, I do like it. The dry-down isn't my favorite as it loses most of the scents balancing it out and gets exclusively licoricey, but that's after nearly a full day of wearing it.
ETA: After more thinking and sniffing, and comparing to other vetiver products I own, I believe the long lasting basenote I was calling "licorice" is actually the vetiver. The licorice/anise is definitely there though.
