Chris' Thirty Three
33 is Chris' lucky number. And as personal as this number is, so is his signature scent. The combination of three of his favorite fragrance ingredients; vetiver, iris, and angelica root, creates a deeply aromatic scent that combines the darker green aspects of vetiver with the softness and slight sharpness of iris.
The fragrance also always carries a subtle resinous quality, which likely comes from the iris resinoid used. This seems to be largely responsible (along with the vetiver) for the golden-brown color of the scent. Yes, almost 90% natural ingredients can be found in 33, and Chris completely forgoes the addition of colorants.
The three main players are complemented by another three fragrance components that harmoniously contribute to 33. On one hand, there is fennel, which defines the vetiver in this fragrance composition with a slight sharpness and very fresh notes. At the same time, nagarmotha oil (cypriol) supports the resinous base mood of the scent and adds even more facets. As the final ingredient of the second trio, musk (hyraceum) resonates best when experienced up close and represents, for Chris, with its fossil vibe, the underlying scent of a natural history museum. It also serves as a very good scent carrier and fixative.
Chris is an artist and very creative. While his artworks are mostly one-of-a-kind, his fragrances are also limited. Interestingly, he allows interested parties to participate in his creative process and the intermediate stages of new scents. Thus, one can purchase various sample sets from his Studio Series or even subscribe to them.
It is important to Chris what the wearers of his fragrances think about them. He values exchange and responds, even across time zone boundaries, in an incredibly friendly manner.
A great guy!
And his fragrances are definitely an experience.
