Adore It
I absolutely adore Coach Open Road. While it smells fresh, citrusy and aquatic on a test strip, that scent couldn't be more different on my skin. The cologne works with my skin chemistry in a way that turns Open Road into a woody, earthy, sweet, aromatic, and ever so spicy scent that is reminiscent of a more intimate version of Mind Games Gambit to my nose. Open Road being an Eau De Toilette causes it to sit a bit more intimately on my skin. Gambit is one of my favorite fragrances of all time so I love the way this smells. This cologne projects much less than Gambit since the latter is an Extrait De Parfum, however I can't deny that this works with my skin so well that it has become my signature for the summer. I adore the way Open Road smells. I've had it on my skin for about 3 hours now and it still smells just as great as when I first applied it on my skin, granted I did spray it about 10 times after testing it on my wrist to see how I liked the cologne as I had only smelled it on a strip before purchasing it. At the discounter price of $30 I find Open Road to be an absolute steal that shouldn't go unnoticed! It's an excellent fragrance!

Its better than D&G "K"
I remember when I first got "K" edp by D&G & said..."This nice & woody with a citrusy blood orange background" .....
And after about 1 day I said, no its a big old SOAPY-woody fragrance that doesn't have much depth....
I am no longer a fan of it, atleast for the time being....
.
Moving on, I find out Coach has this fragrance called Open Road & it's been described as smelling a lot like K but a little fruitier. & that made me hesitant to actually buy it but I seen the price tag & said, "oh what the hell" it's cheap. I got it & thought this is better than K
I see the resemblance, but yes fruitier, smoother & more pleasant. It isn't so aggressively "Soapy", I dnt know why but I can't stand that & in this fragrance is much smoother. It may be the combination of the red apple, citrus & lavender but it is better to me for being way cheaper.
.
I'd wear this on a Saturday, in the spring or summer when I'm running errands and wanna spray a buncha of something fresh/pleasant & easy to wear on me. While I'm running errands on the "open road". It's perfect for work, the gym or just hanging out at the house. It really does work in a lot of situations but it doesn't project very loud at all, you'll catch slight whiffs, better to hit the pulse points & the cloths as much as you can.
Easy buy, check it out

Spicy Airiness
Coach made a quite interesting mix based on an interesting concept of an airy yet spicy and fruity profile. I initially viewed the fragrance skeptically (it smells like D&G K EDT), but I believe it deserves a chance. To me, it stands out due to the Sichuan pepper-Lavender-Vetiver mix as it also brings a slight "player" vibe. But it deserves at least a sniff, as I might not have the same opinion as you'd have for it.

Keep an open mind on Open Road
When I purchased 'Open Road' by Coach, I was initially underwhelmed and disappointed. However, I've discovered i prefer this vein of scent over the blue aquatics for the warmer months. In this fragrance, I can see the maturation of preferences in scent. While I expected this to be an aquatic scent, I found 'Open Road' to remind me of 'Terre d'Hermes by Hermes, which i absolutely adore.
The cons on the fragrance is in the initial spray and projection. I find it to be fleeting given it's composition and that is disappointing. I am a quite liberal sprayer when it comes to fresh and lighter scents, and I do not smell much trace of it unless I sniff my skin.
I do not believe its anosmia, because some scents I can sense throughout the day. I hope at least I smell pleasant to others.

Temporarily Free Ride
Jean-Christophe Hérault, known as the Ghost Perfumer of Creed's Aventus, has set the bar extremely high for himself with his now legendary masterpiece.

"Open Road," which has been relatively sparsely advertised (as can be seen from its popularity), has been available for several months now. Described as a fragrance that is supposed to awaken the spirit of adventure and the desire for freedom (or something like that), it marks the beginning of a new line.

Housed in a quite beautiful bottle that somewhat reminds one of Dior's "Homme" line with its central tube, but features a spray head that I find somewhat peculiar (the tester in the perfumery was already damaged), this good piece comes along.

The scent development begins, as so often, with a citrusy opening that is particularly sour here. So those who, like me, are not particularly fond of purely lemony top notes will be disappointed. However, soon the red apple joins in, adding a bit of sweetness to the mix; the strong citrus note, as usual, recedes somewhat into the background but remains quite present. The lavender is well dosed and does not come off as scratchy, but rather modern and masculine. From start to finish, the fresh character of the fragrance remains intact. I couldn't really detect the sage, but one shouldn't always be able to pick out every single note - after all, the overall composition counts. In the drydown, woody notes join in without disturbing the balance - the fragrance retains its fresh and light profile. Additionally, there is definitely no noticeable synthetic quality, which is particularly noteworthy for a freshly released freshie (almost a tongue twister).
By the way, with a bit of concentration and good will, there is even a minimal (in words: minimal) Aventus vibe here and there, which is not surprising given the perfumer.

"Open Road" is a very light fragrance that, in my opinion, was released at the wrong time of year. As a spring release, it would have likely found a much better place, as its light and absolutely non-intrusive ease is perfect for warmer temperatures. Given the current weather, however, it is mercilessly overshadowed, and one won't fill rooms with this scent even in spring. The longevity is okay, but nothing more. In the current price and fragrance class, there are definitely more sensible alternatives. At a discount price, though, one might consider acquiring the fragrance.

In conclusion, it can be said that "Open Road" doesn't really do anything wrong, but also nothing particularly special. It ranks in the upper midfield among the plethora of fresh fragrances flooding the market, without being a clumsy clone. Somehow, it just lacks that certain something.

Yet its lightness, lack of depth, and at most slightly above-average performance are, to stay positive, just right for a flanker in 2023, which is surely already in the works. I predict a slightly darker liquid, a juicier opening, stronger woodiness in the drydown, and somewhat better longevity and sillage. Such a flanker would definitely be worth a look for me.

Rochas L'Homme + a spritz of Aventus and 2 gallons of alcohol. Its not unpleasant but also not really special or anything else

A nice, light take on modern masculine perfumery. Aromatic, but breezy - Open Road is a good name for it.

There's something cough provoking in the opening but soon it becomes gentle, clean and sporty scent with a pinch of spice. Very nice.

It's an okay freshie, but it doesn't last long. I layer it with Iso E Super & Ambroxan to make it last and project a little more.

A nicer take on K by D&G. Strong woody note. Cedar and vetiver. With a sweet almost chocolate undertone. Very nice.

Slightly sweet start, after about 1 hour a slightly bitter, very masculine scent. Fresh. Sillage is okay. My new daily companion for the office.

A professional, fresh scent that has a very nice soft fragrance profile, unlike many other office DNAs.

At first very aquatic and sour. After about 1 hour it fades and the patchouli and vetiver dominate. Sillage for an EdT is very good.
