Androgynous Musk
Actually, this perfume is not that special. Although there is no fragrance pyramid to be found, I can say that it revolves around musk. I believe I recognize this by the typical soapy and slightly sweet quality that seems to characterize some musk notes.
I often don't like such scents. It always raises the question: Do you smell clean and freshly washed, or does it already smell like the water ran out while showering? And often these perfumes just smell cheap.
With this perfume, which is unfortunately hardly available in Germany, one can experience how fine and interesting a soap-type scent can be. This musk is enriched with delicate floral, citrus, and perhaps fruity accents in the top and heart, and maybe a hint of dry woodiness in the base. The latter justifies its classification as a men's perfume, but I can also easily imagine it as a unisex scent.
And what is atypical about this fragrance, as the wordplay in the name suggests? Undoubtedly the quality! You can already smell a kinship with inexpensive musk scents from the drugstore. This one was also affordable, but somehow it doesn’t come across that way. For a men's perfume, the focus on the gentle aspects of a soapy musk scent seems untypical to me. Yet again, there seems to be a vague resemblance to musk fragrances of a distinctly masculine, bold nature. This shimmering androgyny makes everything even more interesting.
Compared to the quite similar Young Man by IKKS, Atyp'IKKS Man is slightly less fresh, with more depth, which is mainly due to the dark floral notes. Undoubtedly, this describes the grown-up man.
It's a pity that IKKS as a perfume brand has hardly made an appearance in Germany so far. But keep your eyes open during your next trip to France!
