The depth
I've always looked for her in perfume. This unimaginable depth that pulls you down into a bottomless hole of emotions and infinite, timeless beauty. A depth that takes you back through time where legends were born. Stories and myths entwined around them. Perfumes that accomplish the time to let one stand still. Fragrances that are unrestrained, unpredictable and so infinitely wild in their deepest soul that you feel respect and quiet fear of opening the bottle because you know they will poison you and leave their mark with their beauty for the rest of a lifetime. Such a perfume is L'Origan.
L'Origan
It's hard to put this scent into words. Strong tones of jasmine and ylang-ylang characterize the opening. Massive and very wildly animalic with a soft chord of crushed pepper. A very flowery introduction. Notes of fruit become noticeable. Not fresh but rather dried. It combines with jasmine, which in turn undergoes a change. A seasoning is added creepingly. Cloves darken the perfume more and more with other not recognizable spices. The jasmine whips up again and again and gets more and more reinforcement from the floral world. Orchid or its nectar and a deep-dark rose have a strong effect. A fierce battle for power has broken out. Interactions of spices that almost resemble a heavy cognac and floral notes that can hardly be surpassed in opulence are carried out here and tear you slowly but surely into the depths. The depth meant here is a dreamlike base of creamy sandalwood, warm, soft and creamy benzoin, powdery iris and spicy, dusty vanilla. They seem to soothe all previous notes and make one believe that time stands still. A deep, bottomless fall into the infinity of emotions!
Conclusion
L'Origan is a legend. It seems to consist of concentrated passion. An ancient recipe comparable to a canon. A kind of singing from floral and spicy voices that gradually tune in a song. A singing of notes and chords in which each individual voice tries to outdo the other and at the same time joins in. A canon like the war song of lovers. L'Origan is a flight on the wings of time through timelessness. A flight over wild and pristine landscapes. A flight through the unbridled passion of perfume. L'Origan is one of the most engaging perfumes I've ever come across. It demands full attention because it releases images in the head that are too beautiful to look away. It's incredibly hard to concentrate on other things when you're wearing this perfume. It literally clouds the senses!
And to anticipate the question whether L'Origan and L'Heure Bleue are similar? Yes, they do! But if L'Heure Bleue is the blue hour, L'Origan is the blue infinity. Or in French L'Infini Bleue!
This says I believe everything and is my opinion on the comparison!
