Great fragrance with a big flaw

This is my first fragrance commentary and who else could it be, probably the most famous niche fragrance of all time. You simply know Aventus when you travel the fragrance world. Again and again he is called the "King", the synonym for what niche fragrances can be. But does he do justice to that?

In fact, he smells very good. Citrusy, slightly smoky pineapple and a real all-rounder. You can simply wear it anytime and anywhere. Besides, I would like to mention: It's relatively easy to convince me as long as it doesn't contain anything aquatic or leathery. In the end, the scent didn't knock me off my feet, but still I didn't regret the purchase.

But the problem with Aventus is probably as famous as the fragrance itself. Feel hundreds of different batch variations, all of which should smell completely different, some citrus, some smoky, some sweet. And all of them have a different shelf life. I personally can't say too much about it, because I only have this one 2018 version here and I think it's quite solid, the others I don't know. However, I find this flaw catastrophic, even impudent. After all, Creed Retail charges 200 Euros here, for 50ml. For the price I expect a minimum, that you get constant quality and do not participate in a game of chance.

The fact that Aventus has the most clones, which cover all batches and you often get those for less than 80 Euro, makes it difficult to give a recommendation here. Meanwhile the scent is 10 years old and I simply don't find it really relevant anymore, even though it was certainly a masterpiece back then. Also because DNA has now made it into the designer world. And if you really want to have an expensive niche fragrance, there are, in my humble opinion, better alternatives.

@AnimeFreak Here you can freely express your opinion and always share YOUR subjective feelings, among other things this community lives from. As long as it is always factual, it should not bother anyone. From me you get a support cup :)

@Serafina Thank you for your nice comment. Of course I knew what I was getting into, Aventus is one of the most popular fragrances and has a lot of fans outside of this site. My goal is of course not to spoil the scent for the people, but only to share my opinion and experience. :)

I personally think Aventus - from a female perspective - is a rather mediocre and overpriced fragrance. It's a pity that your (obviously honest) first commentary here punishes you so much with "not helpful" ratings. Probably by the "Aventus disciples", who consider this pineapple water the holy grail.

@Heffie75 So Orion by Tiziana Terenzi is going in a similar direction, is more attractive in price and is also a bit more "grown-up" than Aventus. Or also Oud Noir Intense by Fragrance du Bois is absolutely unique here. But also more expensive, but we are also talking about niche. :)

@Jan1991: I once heard the statement that One Million is an excellent fragrance (never smelled it myself), but that it is worn by the wrong people
Maybe this is also true for A. in the meantime. See for example Montana Black and the saying of the "can opener". Such bullshit.....(the one with the can opener).

What better alternatives do you think these would be?
I find that as far as diversity (seasons, opportunities) is concerned, unfortunately only a few can hold a candle to the A. If you don't know what to take you just take the ;-) And I have tested a lot in the last 1-2 years.
Spontaneously I can only think of Rojas Elysium, which is a bit cheaper per ml than "Parfum Cologne"
But this symbiosis of fresh/woody/sweet is quite unique for A.

@Norleans I am of your opinion, Aventus has also for me no longer much to do with niche, except the price eben.^^

Now we live in our perfume bubble, but I don't (any longer) perceive Aventus as a niche fragrance. But the price is clearly niche :-)

Yeah, you're absolutely right. It's a great smell. But the variations in quality in this price range are unacceptable. It makes you feel like a fool.
