save $200, smell better!
I agree with Sherapop about the gingery note here (is it the cardamom?). I love ginger scents, and that spicy whisper here among the wan spring florals and pale citrus just made me want to wear something more gingery. This scent is almost offensive in its dullness.

But it did put me in the mood for gingery citrus, so I wound up slathering that wrist with Origins Ginger Essence lotion. OGE is not considered fine perfume - the Origins brand is more along the lines of aromatherapy. But it is so much more energetic and refreshing than New York Fling.

I went to the BN9 site to see what its maker had to say about it. To my astonishment, Bond calls it a "high-energy, cork-popping scent" and sells it for $180 US for 50 ml and $250 for 100 ml. The vastly superior Ginger Essence sells at the Origins site for $57 for 100 ml and is also available in a nice array of other products (lotion, souffle, scrub, conditioner) at relatively reasonable prices. Again, Bond makes me think of the Emperor's New Clothes - all public relations, no art.

Closet Ginger Unisex Surprise
There is a glaring omission from the notes for Bond no 9 NEW YORK FLING: ginger. In fact, to my nose, this is a light gingery citrus with only very faint florality. I have no idea why this is categorized as a fragrance for women, as it is as unisex as they come: right down the line between masculine and feminine, very ambiguous, all in all.

I reviewed NEW YORK FLING at another site about a year ago, based on a sample vial, and now having acquired a bottle and worn the fragrance on several occasions, I feel even more confident in my claim that this is not a floral fragrance. I wore NEW YORK FLING to a dentist appointment, where I was scheduled to have a filling replaced and was quaking in fear that it might be one of those "simple filling turns into a $3K root canal + crown"-type scenarios of which I've heard so much, but fortunately nothing of the sort transpired.

What did happen was that my dentist went crazy over NEW YORK FLING. Here were her words: "You smell so good: is that perfume?" My response: "yes." To which she replied, "You smell like you just took a shower."

I rest my case. QED.

My Cheerful Alarm Clock
Today, the ding-dong of the DHL delivery man pulled me out of my restless dreams.
I stumbled sleepily to the door - and received two boxes.
My Bonds?
My Bonds!

I release Fling from its cardboard prison and it joyfully jumps at me over its regained freedom.
And what can I say - it brings life to the "place" and invigorates my weary limbs.
Radio on, and I dared a few dance steps to The Story of My Life.
Even my husband wakes up and becomes chatty.

The intro of bergamot and clementine greets me with a sweet freshness - delicately spiced with cardamom.
I think of freshly squeezed fruit juice with a crispy sugar rim on the glass.
The floral aspect is cheerful - the lily of the valley chimes sweetly.
Jasmine and cedar strengthen the fragrance once more as it comes to a close.

Fling is a lively, cheerful companion that instantly dispels fatigue and dark thoughts.
An ideal daytime fragrance for any season, with the good bonds longevity.
At the same time, Fling is light and buoyant - beyond any heaviness.

It is welcome to "float" in with me.

Clean Affair
During today's extensive testing, I truly experienced all imaginable emotional facets related to this fragrance.
The beginning was wonderful! A radiant diamond!
When you have to get up at 5 AM, but the final awakening threatens to fail due to your inner sloth, just spray a hint of New York Fling… And… Fresh, juicy clementine with bergamot does its job perfectly! You feel instantly awake and full of energy - as if you could really take off and briefly float over the city! …………

Unfortunately, the floating lasted really "only a short while"... Not even until noon. Shortly after, you crash down. And then came the big BUT - now I was just wondering where my fragrance actually went? Did it inspire itself and fly away too? And did it take the promised bouquet of peonies, lily of the valley, and freesias that were supposed to play the role of the happiness maker at this point? Will it come back? Hmmm… I don't smell anything for a long time. The energy is slowly leaving me too… Well, what can you do… Thanks anyway for the wake-up kiss…

The worst part is that afterwards, there was an even bigger BUT… The fragrance was back! Unfortunately! I suddenly felt like I had bathed in soap! And no water in sight to wash it off! The soapy feeling lasted a good hour until the fragrance finally left me…

What a pity… Such a sparkling start and such a disappointing finale…
