Simply Irresistible
Yes, scent and wearer should always form a unity. And an incredibly good fragrance does not automatically make someone fascinating and great in my eyes. But there are scents that make me weak; anyone can wear them, and I am initially blown away. By the scent. Even if I don't like the person, it can still be that the scent stays in my memory forever. Even positively.
Among these scents, which I find absolutely irresistible on a man, is this one: Deep Deep in the Baltic. I completely miss the Baltic Sea reference here, and I was initially surprised when I sniffed the fragrance and simultaneously read the name on the spray bottle. Despite a certain green undertone from the herbs and a balsamic green base with a lot of wonderful labdanum, I first thought of an oriental scent. The fragrance is very resinous, and also slightly smoky. Not a sacred incense, even though there is no shortage of incense here. It rather evokes a bit of the association of an oriental souk.
What makes it so irresistible for me is the base note. This labdanum and the amber notes. Simply wonderful. I love balsamic scents like this on men. Especially this dark green, balsamic note feels very familiar to me and makes me almost a little giddy. That one, that great men's fragrance from my youth comes to mind once again. It was also balsamic-green and had fine, slightly sweet amber flecks in the base.
But I also cannot completely dismiss a certain similarity to Andy Tauer's L’Air de Desert Marocain. And this despite the green notes that, of course, do not exist in Andy's version. And - last but not least - another one comes to mind that I also find absolutely irresistible on men: Le Sourire du Diable by L’Antichambre. Here too, we have fine balsamic base notes, a bit of amber sweetness, and smoke. What is Oud in the grinning devil is incense here.
The fragrance has a fine sillage that you want to chase after and also a very good longevity. Mr. Polly has not tested it yet. I hope he likes it, because this is finally one of those that I would love to stick my nose into his neck. Ah! I don't see Deep Deep in the Baltic on myself, but if he likes it, I would definitely buy it for him. Even if it's just for my personal pleasure. And to occasionally sniff it when he is not around.
