Doesn't Age Well

When I first got this perfume, I absolutely loved it. The top notes were a blast of freshly brewed matcha -- like walking right into a tea house with tatami mats and paper sliding doors. The dry down made the fragrance creamier with the entrance of jasmine and bloom of petals, but the matcha note still soared about the rest. By the end of the day, the sweetness of the white chocolate merged with the faint smell of tea leaves, to create a nostalgic memory of the last fragrance lingering at the bottom of a tea cup. I adored this. It incredible longevity on me, too.

But something went awfully wrong. After 6 months, the formula i my legitimately purchased bottle degraded VERY fast. Instead of smelling like photorealistic matcha, the white chocolate note overtook everything and it became screechy and lactonic. My friend who also has a bottle experienced the same thing with hers. I can't bear to wear it anymore. Maybe that's why it ended up getting discontinued.

Do I want to smell like a matcha latte?

A little ray of sunshine came along. Matcha Meditation has been discontinued from a huge retailer and to my luck, it was discounted by 70%. Yes, you read that right!

Even though my first and only impression of it was from a paper strip, it wasn't good, but I just could not pass on this opportunity. Let's be honest. Nothing like some retail therapy!
Very green and very sweet. Matcha Meditation opens with a blast of a duality. The greeness is so realistically green and the sweetness so chocolatey. Matcha Meditation smells like white chocolate covered in ceremonial grade matcha. It is mind boggling how realistic it is.

Bitterness from the matcha, creaminess like that of full fat soy milk and heavy sweetness from agave. Matcha Meditation is a perfect replica of a hot cup of matcha latte. The question is, do I want to smell like a matcha latte?
The bitterness lingers on and the sweetness is at the cusp of being nauseating, but something about Matcha Meditation and the sunshine outside makes it worthwhile. After complete dry down, the fragrance is a true springtime scent of white florals, sweetness and notes of green. I don't think I will be reaching for it that often, because it is quite sweet, but I am so happy to have this in my collection.

Matcha /green tea

Tasted it on paper and on skin too
First spray is authentic green tea / matcha scent
And this goes along with other notes until dry down..
It’s more like paper and green tea
I would say clean scent and later white flowers take over and dry down become more like very commercial mass appealing mix of designers perfumes in duty free. Still there is green tea in the air, something different and nice but that dry down is dominant.
I would prefer, if it will stay tea scent all the time
So in the end overall review is that in the end it smells quite commercial designer perfume with small tea hint ..
some Zara scents has similar dry down

A cosy matcha latte

Matcha meditation opens with a very distinctive matcha smell (meaning it cannot be mistaken for any other kind of tea), some sweet and creamy notes (white chocolate).

The matcha notes fade rather quickly to make place for white flowers (oranje blossom and jasmine), while becoming sweeter (more white chocolate/cacao butter). I also get some maté.

Very sweet but non-cloying dry down (white wood; cocoa butter, orange blossom).

It's by no means complex of subtle, but it's a relaxing, cozy and comforting scent, suitable for all ages.

I'll miss this one

Very nearly the perfect green tea scent for me, but just slightly missed the mark and ended up being something I enjoy but probably won’t purchase. The opening is this light, fresh, creamy matcha scent, which was exactly what I was hoping for, but as it dries down those white florals come to the forefront. They’re nice white florals, and balanced by the oakmoss and cedar that also start to come through, but the result is still more floral and feminine than I’d prefer. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a feminine green tea scent and it's sad to see it leave Replica's lineup.
