Lipstick

Do you know the smell of lipstick? When you open the cap and apply it, a typical lipstick/powder scent greets you.

When I spray this fragrance, I am instantly transported back to my childhood. When I was at the age where I wasn't allowed to wear makeup, but secretly did it when Mom wasn't around. A makeup case full of powder, lipstick, and makeup from high-end brands like Chanel, YSL, etc. was a dream for me, even though I couldn't appreciate the brands at that time, it felt forbidden...

The scent skillfully captures the delicate fragrance of lipstick and powder for me. It's kind of strange, who wants to smell like makeup, but this scent is simply brilliant, so different. I never find it outdated; I think it smells very sophisticated, but not just for mature women over 50+, it doesn't have enough Chanel potential for that, as the aldehydes are only very subtly present, which is great.

After "Eau Duelle," the Diptyque fragrances are increasingly coming to the forefront for me, which I will definitely take a closer look at...

"Fleur de Peau" is also my next candidate for purchase, which I am very much looking forward to alongside "Eau Duelle"...

That is really odd, I was trying to explain this fragrance and for me it smells exactly how you described it!

I always wonder about the users who either enthusiastically perceive the scent notes of lipstick/makeup/powder or, when someone expresses disappointment, can't detect those notes at all. Where do they get this idea of these scent notes? I've been on this planet for a while, have smelled and used many lipsticks, from very cheap to very expensive, including the ones you mentioned. None of them ever smelled that way to me, not even the one that’s supposed to smell like iris root = earthy-powdery, among others. The only makeup I used for a long time smelled like theatrical makeup, specifically the one from Dior. However, that makeup didn't smell like this fragrance. I got it recommended by my singing teacher at the time for solo performances, who was also an opera/musical singer. Nothing connects me to this fragrance in that way, especially not with "Peau" = skin scent - fortunately, I can't stand that note in perfume.

Sometimes I think that this association comes from makeup boxes or containers and the storage places in bedrooms with wardrobes and laundry smell. If you perceive it that way, please don't misunderstand me; I don't doubt it. I just don't get it.
