D&G - The One - Memories of the Costa Brava
After writing a few statements about my favorite scents, I'm dedicating my first commi to a scent that I associate an emotional story with. Many smells are triggered in my brain with a situation or emotion. This can be the smell of my first, own apartment or perfume of people or of myself. I think I have a very good olfactory memory (I know, self-praise stinks, haha).
I had the opportunity to study in Brazil and the US for a total of 11 months in 2017/2018. I was gone for almost a whole year. After that I was back in Germany and things had changed. After two remaining exams, I needed some distance and time to reflect and traveled to the Costa Brava for a week. To be exact, Tossa De Mar (near Barcelona). But since I had forgotten my perfume and still wanted to go out, I went to the nearest perfume shop. There a nice lady named Martina advised me and I tried to explain to her with my rather mediocre Spanish what kind of fragrances I like etc. pp. After a few testers she gave me "D&G - The One". The only thing I remember besides her name is her description "suave" (soft, delicate, fluffy). Super scent, I thought to myself. Since I barely had time to test it at the time anyway, I took 50 ml straight away and couldn't keep my nose off my arm. So different from the scent I've always had so far. In that one week, I met some cool people at the hostel. Among others a pretty Brazilian girl hehe. We spent a few days together, always accompanied by my new fragrance. The week passed quickly and in no time I was back in Germany and wore the fragrance from now on regularly when going out. Afterwards a friend from France visited me, whom I hadn't seen for a year. We greeted each other with a hug and the first thing she said was:
"Heyyy, you got a new perfume?"
"Yeah!"
"It smells super nice. I like it!"
So that means not only do scents burn into my brain, but probably many other people's brains as well. My fragrance at the time before "The One" was, shame on me, Boss Bottled. Well, I just didn't have a clue about fragrances back then, or what other great perfumes there were that could suit me. I wore Boss Bottled next to JPG Le Mâle for about ten years. More than two years have passed since Tossa de Mar and I have now joined parfumo and the fascination with fragrances has taken hold of me. That to the prehistory and what I share with this fragrance. But now to the fragrance itself.
Scent:
It's a spicy, sweet scent, but still masculine. After the opening, orange pushes past grapefruit and remains the dominant scent, along with cardamom. Fitting for Spain, the export nation of oranges par excellence. The bottle looks high-end. Elegant. However, I find the spray head not very well done. Per sprayer comes out rather little, so I have to spray several times left and right to apply enough. There are better atomizers. The durability is okay. I perceive the scent on my neck 1 to 2 hours. When spraying on my arm including sweater, the perception extends a bit to 3 to 4 hours. After that, at least I am scent blind. However, I know that the scent is still perceptible, because I was asked, for example, by my sister in the afternoon "Well, what fragrance are you wearing today?"
Occasion:
To celebrate I find the fragrance rather unsuitable. First, he goes with all the Ulta-Mâle and One Million screamers simply under. For me, the fragrance is just too bad. Secondly, it doesn't fit into the party scene in my opinion. It is a sensual, cozy fragrance, just "suave". It is much more suitable either for social evenings with the family or in intimate togetherness with the beloved. Of course, this fragrance also helps on dates, for people who are still single ? The range of the sillage definitely reaches to the other side of the table. Therefore, mMn the target audience is also young men.
I actually get a little melancholy when I put this fragrance on, because even after more than two years I am still reminded of my time on the Costa Brava. Simply beautiful! Quite possible that these great memories into the rating.
Conclusion:
A cuddle and date fragrance that hardly anyone does not like. En crowdpleaser just. Too bad, however, to take him to a party. From me one of the candidates worthy of blind purchase. I now own the 150 ml version. Good price / performance ratio. Buy recommendation!
