"Lollipops and Roses … lollipops and roses" ...
The idiotic title I've given this review is simply a flight of fancy that my brain jumped to while I was doing a little research on 'Jacinthe' … or Hyacinth :). It's the title of a song I used to rehearse to years ago, back when I was a dancer. Hyacinths remind me of spiky lollipops … ergo 'lollipops and roses' …

For some reason I had always assumed that hyacinths were water plants, like lotuses, never having had much to do with fragrances containing this note. Surprisingly, they are bulbous flowers and were once classified with lilies … which, upon smelling Coudray's Jacinthe et Rose, makes complete sense.

I am faintly reminded of Cartier's Baiser Vole upon applying my nose to the back of my right hand, where this little gem currently resides, wafting gorgeous powder and roses in the direction of my nose as I type.
Apparently, Jacinthe is an orange coloured variety of hyacinth … and the top notes here pulse brilliantly with that colour. I assume this is to impart a 'sunniness' to the composition and to me it's the fading light of an orange and pink sunset … soft and glowing. Mature Roses take centre stage soon after … the languid kind of Rose heated by a day full of blistering sun, giving up the last of her deep essence to the fast approaching evening. This is my favourite time of day … when the sun has gone but the sky is still a riot of pink, peach and gold. The solid but serene woody base here, is simply a pedestal for the lingering Rose to be laid upon.

As you can tell dear reader, by the way I am forced to write, Jacinthe et Rose inspires romantic wanderings and would be the perfect scent for sundowners in a gazebo, watching the day slowly fade to night.

Exquisite, romantic,fresh and uplifting rose
Beautiful Rose and hyacinth with a touch of peach.
My first niche perfume that I still LOVE

Exquisite, romantic, uplifting, not on
the sweet side, not heavy very feminine.

The best E. Coudray to my taste.

To me its an everyday fragrance.
I also have the body lotion
Lovely and fresh.
Update:
Well,this was my first niche
'now I have got to smell some amazing rose perfume
so this one is not such a WOW anymore.

Hyacinths, Roses, and a Bit of Brain
Every now and then, you pull a scent from the sample grab bag that just doesn’t say anything to you. You neither know the fragrance nor the brand and then do what everyone probably does. You look it up here on Parfumo and hope that no one made any mistakes when entering it into the database, um, not that I’ve ever found a mistake :D

Then you see the ratings and notice that the fragrance hasn’t been received very well and you wonder whether you should even write a comment about it. After all, I (well, I try!) always try to come up with something to keep the ungrateful crowd (that’s you!) entertained.

And if you do come up with something that you think “hm, yes, this is somewhat publishable,” in the end, no one reads it. And you feel disappointed and think about withdrawing from writing comments forever *sniff*

In short: Read it, you ungrateful lot, you!!! :D

The Fragrance:
You smell sweet and watery hyacinths (Yes, I Googled what hyacinths look like… I just can’t remember plants, … I must really be dumb or something!). The sweetness of the fragrance should come from the jasmine, as it smells like those beautifully sweet flowers.
In the heart note, the rose increasingly comes to the forefront and, along with the orange blossoms, is the strongest note here. The roses gain strength and eventually become the main players.
Towards the end, the fragrance becomes a bit sweeter, which should come from the musk. And as usual in the base, you also smell woods. And that’s it for the development of the scent.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The projection is mediocre, so the fragrance can be smelled at a short to medium distance. However, a larger scent cloud will not linger.
The longevity is quite okay, the fragrance lasts seven to eight hours.

The Bottle:
The bottle has a cylindrical and vase-like shape and does not have clear transparent glass (it looks like frosted glass). The upper area, just before the cap, is clear, and plant patterns have been incorporated into the glass. This is quite nice, but in small photos or from a distance, it looks a bit like an open brain, especially with the pink fragrance liquid!
Anyway, the cap is transparent, widens in height, and then transitions into a dome. A nice bottle that looks a bit older with its rather old-fashioned design.

Alright, this fragrance has been commented on as well.
*Check off sample list*
Well, what can I say? For me, Jacinthe et Rose has somehow just become a too 0815 fragrance. Now, this doesn’t have to mean anything bad; there are many 0815 fragrances that smell good. This one smells good too, but it has no strengths, making it easily replaceable by many others, possibly much cheaper (rose) fragrances.

It is a floral-sweet summer fragrance for everyday use, but could also be used for going out. In my opinion, it’s not necessarily a fragrance that you must test, but some might find it quite nice.

So, has everyone read this now? Of course not again, so I’m (once again surely) talking to myself… *sigh*

March Roses
That I chose this one for my very first E. Coudray fragrance will surely surprise no one. After all, it has Rose in the name. At that time, I had only done a short test, and the decision was very spontaneous. Do I regret it? No, although it is not the rose scent I imagined. Also, hyacinths bloom in February/March, while roses only bloom in May, and somehow this factor intrigued me.

Jacinthe et Rose opens with hyacinth, what can I say, with hyacinths in immeasurable numbers. White, pink, blue in a colorful mix, with the white and pink ones predominating in this bright, fresh opening, as the blue ones smell darker, warmer. Nevertheless, real hyacinths are significantly sweeter - that is not the case here. The scent is sweet overall, but not so sweet that it could become unpleasant. With the hyacinth, a light fruity scent comes along, which, however, disappears quite quickly, while the hyacinth remains for a very long time.

Only after about 2 hours did the rose show itself to me. First timidly, still covered by the hyacinths, but then it pushed its way up and definitely very softly and unsweetened determined the further scent development, which also lasts quite well. I couldn't identify the other flowers, but there was a pleasant light green note that then transitioned into the base.

However, once the base was reached, the scent didn't really linger on my skin and faded quite quickly at this stage. As if all the base components were extremely weakly dosed.
I was surprised, but the top note with the hyacinth was present longer than the base note. However, this is very soft, pleasant, and unsweetened - I would have liked to enjoy it longer.

Jacinthe et Rose is very much an acquired taste. Those expecting a rose scent will be disappointed, as the hyacinth - very natural but unsweetened - predominates. The overall longevity is not bad, but the longevity of the base could be improved. In the surrounding area, you can perceive very little apart from the hyacinth; it dominates the scene.

Even though it is not a true rose scent, I like the fragrance, but if I were to stand before the decision a second time, whether to buy Jacinthe et Rose or Musc et Freesia, I would reach for Musc et Freesia.

Childhood Days
Just like the beautiful Esperys by Coudray, the no less pleasant Jacinthe et Rose takes me back to my childhood days.

This fragrance also has something touchingly nostalgic.

I see lush rose arches and blue hyacinths - just like they were depicted in shiny pictures back then.
We used to call them "Glanneks" - eagerly collecting and trading them.
Of course, only us girls - the boys made fun of it.

I always loved the garden idylls with the noble roses, delicate peonies, and snow-white jasmine the most.
The "good" Glanneks were still dusted with silver.
So is the scent - floral, slightly powdery, and soft through the vanilla.
And irresistibly romantic.

Most of the time we sat in the garden, engrossed in our "trading business," surrounded in reality by the aromas that our pictures represented.

Only once did I trade five colorful garden pictures for a single tiny teddy - he was absolutely worth it to me.
This trade was met with incomprehension from my mom, and I was scolded - which I, in turn, did not understand.
I was so proud of my new possession.

Yet such supposedly unequal trades still run through my life - and that is a good thing.

It's lovely that Jacinthe et Rose has awakened this memory in me again.

The floral notes of rose and hyacinth are initially watery and bright, which isn't a downside. Soon, the scent becomes denser and more powdery.

In the dry down, I sense an authentic fresh-green hyacinth note. Absolutely dreamy. Lasts long. The scent deserves so much more. Love!

Lush, harmonious blooms with green leaves. Fresh aldehydes + soapiness. Plus, in the dry down, woody musk. Nostalgic, creamy, pleasant.

Old School - soapy, fresh, lightly powdery. You really have to like hyacinth; otherwise, it won't warm you up. A classic for classics :-)

Starts citrusy-bitter + slightly powdery / Heart: Mix of white indolic flowers + rose + soapy aldehydes / Base sweet-creamy - slightly woody - enchanting.

Energetically fresh hyacinth + rose and a hint of fruit. Stays crisp floral even in the musk base. Like freshly lotioned with expensive cream.

Floral, fresh, elegant, feminine. Something fascinates me, but there's also something about the scent that bothers me, or the bottle is tilted. H/S good.
