In vino veritas?
That Sacre Coeur by Ego Facto (or: Egofacto) is supposed to be an Eau de Parfum is hard for me to believe, as both longevity and sillage are rather mediocre or weak. I find the bottle successful. Minimalistic. 50ml can be had for just under 80 EUR. That's still reasonable.
What immediately stands out is the central motif of "wine" in this perfume, more specifically: white wine, even more specifically: Chablis. Parfumo lists the notes as Chablis, fruits, lemon (top), leather, tobacco (heart), and ginger, patchouli (base). Online, some different components can be found, for example, there is mention of vine leaves and vine flowers in the base (source: ausliebezumduft.de).
The opening of SC is indeed distinctly fruity. I perceive obvious parallels to the extremely interesting Nasengold #S. Did the creators of Nasengold find an inspiration here? After a very lively start, a moderate spiciness appears, which does not last too long. The dry down of SC is carried by ultra-soft and very bright patchouli tones. Nothing musty, but a clear sunny summer day!
In the meantime, Sacre Coeur reminds me of the much-appreciated Savile Row by Richard James - however, I have my difficulties here as well as there in discovering leather or tobacco. SC is a fragile construction that is not for tough guys or those who think they are. Unfortunately, the scent loses its strength rather quickly, and one searches in vain for new and interesting scent developments.
SC is a close-to-skin, quite positive and uplifting perfume that undoubtedly fits very well into any office (as despite the alcoholic element, the scent does not come off as alcoholic or burning) and can be enjoyable in summer. I find the wine theme extremely exciting, and surely there is still much to explore olfactorily here. In particular, elegant white wine notes are suitable for conveying sympathy, zest for life, and a vacation feeling olfactorily. Aside from the formal weaknesses, SC remains just a bit too smooth and too pleasing for my taste. Perhaps this Chablis should have been aged a bit in oak barrels, even though traditionally, in northern Burgundy, they tend to be more reserved in this regard...
