Like A Masterful Chameleon
It may take a while to get used to contemporary amber-musk match, especially if you’re accustomed to classic accords. I was initially more inclined to purchase Unicə ME when I tried it with its twin, Myself. With its box full of colourful icons, reminiscent of old Polaroids, and its velvety bottle in a blue-green hue that falls somewhere between dark cyan and blue spruce, I imagined a citrusy, fruity and sparkling scent that would eventually become sweet, like "Erba Pura | XerJoff". As soon as I sprayed it on the paper strip and my skin, I was surprised by the similarity to the niche scent I had in mind. It turned out to be exactly what I expected: inspired by the essence of tropical fruits, warm, a little salty and musky, with a powdery nuance similar to that of coumarin. A unique musky nuance infuses this cocooning fragrance.
Unicə Me belongs to the fruity, floral, and amber family. From the initial application, it announces itself with unapologetic vibrancy—a kaleidoscopic explosion of tropical fruit that simultaneously seduces and challenges the senses. This is not merely a fragrance; it’s an olfactory manifesto that defies classification within traditional fruity-floral boundaries. A masterful symphony of citrus brilliance dominates the opening. Italian bergamot provides the sparkling overture, while a photorealistic orange blossom accord introduces unexpected depth. This isn’t the sanitized, candy-like interpretation common in commercial offerings but rather a fully realized botanical portrait capturing both the nectar-like sweetness and the characteristic acidic edge that gives tropical fruits their distinctive complexity.
As the composition evolves, a metamorphosis occurs where juicy red fruits form a seamless continuum with the opening movement. The true revelation comes through an extraordinarily realistic interpretation of berries—pulpy, succulent, and tinged with that characteristic tart complexity that separates authentic fruit representation from confectionery simplification. This initial phase exhibits remarkable clarity, with each note distinctly identifiable yet harmoniously integrated. The transition introduces a sophisticated jasmine that doesn’t announce itself individually, but rather elevates the fruit notes with indolic sophistication. A whispered suggestion of an unripe green apple adds structural support, preventing the sweetness from becoming overwhelming. This middle phase demonstrates the perfumer’s technical virtuosity—maintaining luminous fruitiness while introducing complexity.
The dry down reveals Coveri’s signature sophistication through a foundation of white musk that vibrates with remarkable persistence. Vanilla provides textural contrast—not as a gourmand sweetener but as a resinous, almost woody element. Ambroxan extends the composition’s lifespan while introducing a mineral quality that grounds the earlier fruit extravaganza. The base introduces another dimension entirely—the ambery-musky foundation creates an olfactory tension against the exuberant fruit bouquet. This contrast represents the artistic signature that elevates Erba Pura beyond conventional fruity-floral territory into niche perfumery. The ambroxan and white musk elements create a translucent veil rather than a heavy oriental base, maintaining the composition’s essential tropical character while extending its evolution on the skin.
Based on my experience, I’ve identified “Unicə Me” as a complex fragrance with distinctive characteristics. Strong projection with pronounced sillage for several hours, eventually becoming an intimate skin scent lasting beyond 12 hours. Like a masterful chameleon, it suits spring and summer, however, in autumn earlier emergence of base notes with amber and vanilla warmth, and in winter tropical elements become more abstract and contemplative. Appropriate for casual daytime, it is Versatile and adaptable in the evening and night. A polarizing yet artful fruit-forward composition that challenges conventional expectations with hidden dimensions and remarkable complexity throughout its evolution.
I've based my experience om a bottle I've owned since March 2025.
