Green breeze
Thomas Fontaine has quite a track record. He has revived a few legendary houses almost singlehandedly. Not by clever marketing, but by consistent 'nose skills'. No 8 is one of the several Eutopie releases with his name on it. But compared to his work for Le Galion, Patou or Lubin, this simply feels below par.

Overall I get a standard fresh breezy musk. It has a clear green appearance. Despite those greens it does not feel cold as there is a quite a bit of mastic resin going on as well. The sillage goes from huge to mild within minutes. It has ambrox-boost written all over it, but I do not find it disturbing. In fact, the whole scent has a 'not disturbing' vibe or 'better than nothing' at best. Bit of a monday morning job, Mr Fontaine?

Fine Freshness from the "Niche"...
And yet, not a typical "niche" scent. Present, but without an endlessly long scent trail that fills entire halls. Herbaceous and green with a mysterious resin note, above which citrus fruits and cool galbanum float.
Delicate incense forms a quirky counterpoint to the fresh mint and orange blossom.--- While it’s not listed in the "fragrance pyramid," I also catch whiffs of boxwood and cypress! And not just a little - to my nose's delight!
The base - consisting of cedar and amber - rounds things off magically, as it integrates and doesn’t overshadow the other notes, but rather enhances and deepens them.
So, indeed "niche"!?!?... It does remind one of Maison Margiela's "Untitled," just richer and significantly longer-lasting. I am quite taken with this wonderful "greenery" - I found my decant that I thought I had lost! ;-))

Early spring = anticipation: powerful, herbaceous, a sense of new beginnings, wet earth, first green, energy boost, but no floral romance yet. Great!

Dry - green and spicy. The resin almost leans towards misty smoke. Reminds me of angelica. For galbanum lovers like me. Very fine.

Wonderful, fine, and airy. Ethereal galbanum, mint only hinted at, along with minimal bright flowers and a touch of freshly baked white bread.

Wonderful garden-in-spring scent with lots of cool galbanum and balsamic-warm resins. Sun-rain mix, pleasant temperature + DISTANT VIEW!!

could be a bit fresher for me, otherwise nice.
I prefer the "(untitled)" one.

Actually a nice balsamic-spicy scent to my taste, if it weren't for that penetrating alcoholic note in the background...
