"The capitalism is no longer what it used to be,"
my grandma used to say in the 90s. The context was different, describing it would lead too far here, but the saying fits quite well as a headline.
Karl Marx described the pursuit of profit in "Capital" as follows:
"With corresponding profit, capital becomes bold. Ten percent is safe, and it can be applied everywhere; 20 percent, it becomes lively; 50 percent, positively daring; for 100 percent, it tramples all human laws underfoot; 300 percent, and there is no crime it does not risk, even at the risk of the gallows."
Do they know this at Armani too?
"Armani Privé - Sable Or" was released in 2015 in a limited edition of 1,000 bottles. 100 ml cost 575 euros. Despite the hefty price, the perfume sold out quite quickly. Here on Parfumo, the scent is well-known to many; I keep stumbling across comparisons (and making them myself) about how close another fragrance is to Sable Or. Now and then, you find inquiries in the souk. For my nose, it was indeed a particularly beautiful scent.
With a reissue, one could make a business. Why does Armani refrain from this? A reissue wouldn't be dangerous at all and wouldn't put anyone at the gallows.
It can't be due to the expensive ingredients. "Iris Silver Mist" has significantly more iris to smell and is offered for just over 160 euros per 100 ml.
This only leads me to one conclusion: My grandma was right, capitalism is not what it used to be. At least not at Armani.
Addendum: With this, I do not want to call on Armani to price the reissue at over 500 euros as well.
